The Tale of ALLTYNEX (SITER SKAIN)
Re: The Tale of ALLTYNEX (SITER SKAIN)
I dislike steam, I would rather pay extra for DRM free games than use steam. So I use gog.com support Kickstarter and buy humble bundles.

It's not necessarily, it's raw exposure as a market place ... It's a bit like facebook, it's not the only social network, but it's the biggest, and your friends are there already. It's an extremely powerful means to gain coordinated exposure at a single point in time, which is why most devs want to be there... and god knows we should welcome exposure for shmups.trap15 wrote:Anyone mind explaining to me why Steam is the holy bastion of PC gaming? DRM and a silly anchovie system? Woohoo? Just release the damn games standalone.
No reason you can't also distribute on, say, good old games as well as steam?

Not to toot my own horn, but that was my question /idea for digital covers
i know some collectors like having something physical on the shelf. Figured it would be a nice consolation.

I wish I'd thought to request it, but it would have been neat for them to throw in a copy of the original Alltynex. Sure, basically no one owns an FM Towns, but it would kind of a neat piece of history. Maybe even Raid Wind? Though I don't know that Raid Wind is directly related to the Alltynex games.
Reflection as well.

Re: The Tale of ALLTYNEX (SITER SKAIN)
Apologies! I haven't been on this thread for a while, so missed a few points.
Pledge vs Actual Value * | Pledge | Act. Value
1 game + OST + Wallpapers + Site Credit: $15 | $20.98
2 games + OST + Wallpapers + Site Credit + Game Credit: $25 | $28.97
3 games + OST + Wallpapers + Site Credit + Game Credit +Satazius: $35 | $42.95
3 games + 3 OSTs + Wallpapers + Site Credit + Game Credit +Satazius: $45** | $58.93
* Retail prices for all games and OSTs are $7.99; wallpapers, site & in-game credits are valued (conservatively, we'd say) at $5.
** That's of course before we threw in the Digital Deluxe Edition for pledges of $45 or more
Hope that clears up some points.
PS Sorry about the hard to read table - the formatting look fine in preview, but munges when submitted.
PPS Btw, I 100% agree with your view on journalism, Steam & Greenlight, however
PPPS THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE SUPPORT!!!
I'm not about to try to convince you to change your mind - if it's just the games you want and you don't care to contribute to the campaign, that's absolutely fine - but FYI here's the comparison of what you get for your pledges versus the actual value.bVork wrote:I pulled my pledge when they announced the pricing for the games. I see no reason to pay more and get less - the lowest tier with all three games is $35. That's $15 more than the price for the three games if I just wait.

Sorry, I can't recall receiving your note (feel free to resend) or any others. (That not willful lack of recollection, btw.)bVork wrote:Also, Nyu Media's statement... is pure and utter bullshit.
As we pointed out in the Kickstarter page, the Kickstarter is to allow us to add additional resources to finalizing the games (specifically paying for more bug testing and code revisions), to help us promote the games & so hopefully give us a chance of passing Steam Greenlight, and give us a budget to create the stretch goals which we couldn't otherwise make. I can't make it much clearer than that. This isn't and never was a profit-generating exercise.bVork wrote:The games are coming out in English regardless of pledges, and even regardless of whether their goal is met. So this is merely a way to extract maximum money from customers.

Re: The Tale of ALLTYNEX (SITER SKAIN)
We actually discussed the possibility of including a port of the original ALLTYNEX with Siter Skain, but sadly it's outside of the scope of what they can do for this project.CStarFlare wrote:I wish I'd thought to request it, but it would have been neat for them to throw in a copy of the original Alltynex. Is there even an FM Towns emulator that could be used to run the original ALLTYNEX? I'm not sure that Siter Skain would be up for just handing out code for the sake of it.
Anyway, I'll ask them. Stand by...

Re: The Tale of ALLTYNEX (SITER SKAIN)
I believe there is, I've no idea how good it is, though. I'm sure someone around here has the real thing, though.
It'd be a neat thing if they were up for it, but I'd obviously understand any reluctance on their part. Especially if there's any chance they'd some day be interested in reviving them for a separate project... I was thinking about it from the perspective of the games being rather obscure by this point, so assumed they had little commercial value.
Anyway, thank you for asking, I hope they don't mind me asking.

Re: The Tale of ALLTYNEX (SITER SKAIN)
Sorry, but I already imported the games from Japan, and no physical release means that I'm not interested, especially not at a $35 price point.
Re: The Tale of ALLTYNEX (SITER SKAIN)
Unfortunately that's where I ended up to. I was willing to pay $100 to support the physical release of the Trilogy, but I'm not paying a dime for downloadable content when I already bought a physical copy of Kamui.Friendly wrote:Sorry, but I already imported the games from Japan, and no physical release means that I'm not interested, especially not at a $35 price point.

Re: The Tale of ALLTYNEX (SITER SKAIN)
Good news! I put the request to SITER SKAIN and they asked that we don't include these games in the deluxe edition, but they have graciously provided access to all three games.CStarFlare wrote:I wish I'd thought to request it, but it would have been neat for them to throw in a copy of the original Alltynex. The Tale of ALLTNEX (bundle of all 3 games): $19.99
So it's $19.99 for the convenience of a localized version not $35 ...GenkiPatton wrote:No interest in English versions of the games?

I just tested out the Alltynex Second demo and have a few comments.
. Playing with an XBOX360 controller
. Using the analog stick on the controller
. Have not touched the configuration screen
. The "CTRL to skip" does not seem to have a controller equivalent
. Sometimes while playing I suddenly get the pause menu. Which is interesting in itself since it's not mapped on the controller

Fantastic to have a tutorial in English

Correct. $35 was a pledge tier to receive the 3 localized ALLTYNEX games + OST + Wallpapers + Site Credit + Game Credit + a Steam key for SATAZIUS.HydrogLox wrote:So it's $19.99 for the convenience of a localized version not $35 ...

It's a shmup, not an RPG. I was willing to buy at a premium for a physical copy of the games and OSTs (not mp3 quality crap) and the physical translated book. Seems improbable, but is there any chance this game crossing platforms (linux/mac)? I would be stoked if it's true.
