Fractured Chakra

Post by railslave »

very rough , but its all done to the spectrum color athetic..

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... index.html (plays in browser, adjust size for speed boost )

This is my main color inspiration and an idea of the complete pizza the spectrum made of the turrican 2 game :P
Image

started this yesterday, so dont expect much ..its playable and the chain, super weapon thing works...collect coins to fill the bar at the bottom left then unleash your super with x

ow my eyes, god i am glad I never owned a spectrum

Why can't you shoot normally once you fill the bar up? Instead of being a Muchi Muchi Pork or Strikers 1999 style extra shot you can build up and use, once you fill the bar you're forced to use it as your primary means of attack. In fact, once you build up the super meter, you can keep tapping it constantly and collecting so many coins that you never seem to run out (I got it to the point where I could fire a constant stream and it never dropped).

Also, the yellow bar at the bottom is on the top layer, so if you have to move to the bottom of the screen, the bar can actually mask the player sprite. The coins are also on the top layer of the game, above the enemy shots, so when you're collecting tons of coins by using the super bar, you can easily get hit by shots that are hidden behind clouds of coins, not cool. Bullets should really be on the top layer.

Ok thanks for the feedback, ill get those layers sorted. And that super shot thing .

Only just started, but i love the psychedelia.
The sky is meant to represent the loading screen :P .

Aw spectrums were amazing! you couldnt plan color clashes like that lol.. their flaws were their endearing qualities...but.

better graphics (if thats possible in 7 colors), i think ive sorted the mountain out ...
Enemies look a bit more distinctive now as does the man you play .
bullets more defined.
and a new enemy type.

If your having speed trouble lower the size of your browser (plays best on chrome)

Thanks :D the art usually comes first for me, fun factor later :| (yeah i know thats wrong )

Im using construct 2, easier to publish html 5 stuff these days , to absolutely everything.

169500 is my top score

Going to get the most abstract music next.

I found the performance quite shaky on my Mac. Surprised it even ran at all to be honest - HTML5 stuff usually crashes this machine.

In addition, my eyes hurt.

No, it's the only and proper way to do things. :)

Welcome to 80s gaming Britannia :D , mine too ,

Quite possibly my worst idea ever lol (thats saying something), but i dunno..im already growing attached to our curled up "baldylocks" protagonist and his psychedelic nightmare.

to adjust any of the color or put any filter would be to take away from the point of the aesthetic im afraid :| its a tought one, maybe scan lines would help, but to stick a full screen effect on there would be suicide... ill see.

Try using a smaller browser size..

Slight improvement with scanlines and slight improvement with the in-game performance. Flashing background still makes my eyes hurt. Nice novelty idea though, I guess!

I'm still seeing that 'hitbox gets hit before a bullet's near it' effect from your previous games. Did you ever figure out if that was you or Construct?

just like BPzeBanshee said, i get hit before i get hit...
also how about transitions, its really jarring when the screen just jump cuts...
also, enemy placement is none existent, they just randomly come to kill you.

so, hitbox fix + transitions + enemy placement and variation.

the game looks really interesting, it has a lot of potential...

Dunno the collision "polygon" is pretty small, ive been aware of that myself, hmm dunno, id hate to say it was them :P but, my hit box is what you can see..maybe ill lower the bullets hit box to help with that .

I just have enemies on a timer for now while i test stuff out... like every 2/5/10 seconds ect..(no randoms, i learned my lesson on here last time...only one enemy is created on your y axis, the others are fixed)
Thanks, got Akai Katana recently an that inspired me ...dunno where the 7 color thing came from though :| but if anything its tooo colorful so thats an achievement

um, well done you winner a toaster! thanks for playing :D

The game has a name FRACTURED CHAKRA

Try this new build featuring a boss 15 seconds before the end, and lots of bug fixes...
the bullet hit boxes are alot smaller so i think out little phantom death problem is gone.
Also the coin exploit/glitch thing is fixed

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... index.html

Can you survive 15 seconds of this boss!!!( i cant even reach him yet )

hes indestructible but yields some nice points.

something ive been working on

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55s4dcQS ... e=youtu.be

straight after playing akai and being inspired to make the zx spectrum type thing i made the mistake of playing grindstormer... so, i just had to make a vert again .

just had to get my spinny red bullet fix.

some features:
bullet soaking with the drones fills a bar that will allow you to strategically place them for a limited time ..

auto fire but:
z is focus shot
x is to set your turrets where ever you want(when soak bar is full an green), stillworking on this.
You fill soak by letting your turrets take out the bullets.

See if you can get to the train thing at the end....46007 is my top score

Hi, I just tried the download in your last post. It has some great style but the controls are extremely laggy. The input lag is like 0.5s. Sometimes there's some deliberate slowdown it seems, but i cannot image that's the case with the inputs.

Thanks for the feedback

I think i may have fixed this, once and for all..

it was to do with the framerate mode in construct , which is set to vsync, i set it to unlimited, tell me what you think

I hope so anyway , that lags the bane of my existence

try this https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84483952/gnna1.rar

menu ect is just a placeholder until i decide its worth putting the time in .
and the player ship is going to be some kind of an angel as in gynoug/wing of wor

The input lag is gone. Now i just need to survive longer then 15 seconds.
I think it's because i don't understand how the turrets work.

Is it possible to make it windowed or make it don't quit the app when you gameover?

I recently started working on a shooter myself so i'm kind of spying on other peoples work atm.

Well, im new to this as well :P this is just still very rough , to show the style and some gameplay ..

Hold z and the turrets come right up front and act as bullet canceling shields, but this is where you have to watch getting sweeped by some patterns.

This video shows a bit of how it works, the end of the level is pretty broken , but its worth getting there to see the one of the best bosses of all time :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwCn9zSQpAU

thanks for trying it:D

might take me a while to get menus sorted, thats like a brave new world to me.

ill get to work on all that .

Just been updated, you should love this , loads of ways to get score.., asteroids(beware the anti camping one every 15 seconds), timed scores, Chains, placeable turrets

that boss this has become this nightmare orbital train full of guns

spectrum game was a bit of an experiment that almost gave me a epileptic fit, not good
