When I say it's not the best game ever, don't take it as too much of a sleight. The stages seem a bit vapid initially, but it's about trying to chain enemy kills. They get a lot longer and busier as the game progresses, and I really like your constantly improving skills - your insanely high ninja jumping is definitely well suited to the dual screen.
Do you get a skill later on that fixes the game's tendency to bring you to a dead stop after executing attacks? That design choice doesn't seem like a good fit for the continuous action format of this game, and it's driving me nuts. Hard to adjust to. Executing dash attacks and so on also is odd feeling because you come up on enemies so quickly. Not sure the tall screen format is working wonders for the game - it's different, and nice to see what's above you, but there usually doesn't seem to be much to see most of the time, and getting around on trees is more of a chore than I would like.
Really, the game is doing very little for me, especially when the much-vaunted combo system is largely determined by luck of enemy appearance.
The boss fights are interesting, though.
