Where is the Ibara love?
Re: Where is the Ibara love?
I'm starting to understand this Ibara love you guys are talking about. Fun shit.
61%? I play without touching the blitter and it's more fun.

I'm so mad that I can't release my modified MAME for accurate Ibara slowdown

Get in touch with the CaveUI guys, I'm sure they'd be interested.trap15 wrote:I'm so mad that I can't release my modified MAME for accurate Ibara slowdown
Re: Where is the Ibara love?
Considering how cheap the PCB is and how overly expensive the shit port is I don't understand why so many people stick with the port. If you are patient you can grab an Ibara pcb for less that $300 while the shittastic port goes for like $140 give or take.
Best STG of all time for $300 and you never need another game again @_@

I always thought the port was expensive because of the...Arrange was it? The version similar to Kuro. Not having a concentration shot in a Cave game was not the brightest idea. It's standard and expected.
Re: Where is the Ibara love?
I'm not withholding it because there's nowhere to send it. I'm withholding it because I still think there's a chance for a new better port of it. Also because CAVE would hate me even more for doing itshmuppyLove wrote:Get in touch with the CaveUI guys, I'm sure they'd be interested.trap15 wrote:I'm so mad that I can't release my modified MAME for accurate Ibara slowdown

Not for a Yagawa game. Ibara is pretty much a sequel to Battle Garegga, which is why it's so awesome.Muchi Muchi Spork wrote:Not having a concentration shot in a Cave game was not the brightest idea. It's standard and expected.

I like Ibara. Can't pass stage 2 for the life of me 99% of the time though. Apparently I need to stock more HOLDMETIGHT-HADOUGUNS!!!.
Re: Where is the Ibara love?
At 61%, Ibara has basically no slowdown in the first two levels, or what I've seen in the third.KAI wrote:I'm starting to understand this Ibara love you guys are talking about. Fun shit.

It's definitely not a Mushi.

Re: Where is the Ibara love?
People just moan to much and blame there lack of perseverance and skill on everything but themselves.Ive played ps2 ,pcb and mame and found no issue in executing the same strats for the same score in each one didnt make a blind bit of difference and judging by archers ps2 port and pcb scores i dont think it bothered him much either.Which part of stage 3 are you people needing slowdown for? Sounds like you might be playing to much from intuition and not enough from a bit of plan and memory.

Re: Where is the Ibara love?
Been playing it the last few days because of this topic. It's definitely grown on me. When I first played it I didn't care for Yagawa games at all, now it's basically right there with Battle Garrega or Batrider. The graphics on the PS2 port look pretty dull, though. And I wish I knew how to score in the arrange mode... maybe you just have to make it to stage 3 to have a chance at a high score, and I'm just not very good.

Re: Where is the Ibara love?
Setting the blitter rate won't help for Ibara's slowdown. Much of it is CPU based, and requires waitstate emulation and a CPU clock that isn't hilariously fudged.

More info about this? Is there much RNG then?cools wrote: The difficulty comes in because it plays differently every time, and all the DDP-game-chainers can't handle this.

Seems like I don't know much about ibara, and this post made me interested..

Welcome to Yagawa.
This game is not as hard as I though, I'm getting to the last stage with only 1 day of practice, some of my strategies from Arrange and Kuro are transferable. Ibara Full Love <3

Re: Where is the Ibara love?
It's not expensive or difficult to build your own supergun out of parts, and if you do something like this:
http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=40753
Then you don't need any carpentry skills at all. But you do need to find the cheapest tested working jamma board to use as a tester before plugging in a Cave board. It might be easy but we are still human.
Ibara being the best game ever is obviously just one person's opinion. I don't think it is and I don't think Garegga is either, but that wins the voting every year and it's quite similar. In an interview it was said that Ikeda specifically said to Yagawa "make Battle Garegga" as the instructions for Ibara.
Also I think you can make Ibara play the same game each time if you run it in and out of service mode after each death, like with Pink Sweets.

Nope it's not the same skill set to do pcb repair and smd work vs. what it takes to make your own controller. It takes no skills at all to wrap open wire through a hole in a microswitch and put a hot iron on it with solder. It takes a few minutes of studying on the internet and nothing more. Absolutely anyone can do it.

Re: Where is the Ibara love?
Prebuilt ones kickass too but I'm not an expert on their pricing at all. I see a lot of them here:
http://www.game-kanaya.com/index.html
And I'm sure they are on Yahoo Japan a lot. You might want to ask rancor to keep an eye out for you for a cheap(er) one? I don't know, I build my own stuff.

Re: Where is the Ibara love?
The "don't forget the cost of ..." argument always makes me giggle. Want to play Ibara in mame? Don't forget the cost of a monitor, operating system, joystick, and a nice gaming chair!
On topic, Ibara is fine. Lots of bombing, extends/death, and massive destruction everywhere. Not a fan of boss milking, but that seems easy enough to ignore.

Re: Where is the Ibara love?
So how else would someone looking for the bare minimum requirement to play a pcb do so? Are you saying superguns are as ubiquitous as, say, two-year old PC's?Jeneki wrote:The "don't forget the cost of ..." argument always makes me giggle.
