I do like the white Marty, something weirdly attractive about its enormous size and weight too (but not the common failure of its disk drive/laser).

The Marty is unexpectedly sexy. Very nice design.

And even though the Vita is the sexiest handheld, the NGPC is really nice looking. Better looking than the Game Boy line, although I'm pretty fond of the original GBA's design, and the Micro is pretty slick too.

Man, now I'm gonna get stabbed for saying this.
I like the US SNES's design a bit more than the PAL/JP, although I don't think any of the SNES/SFC models look that great anyway. I'm probably looking for different design cues as sexy.

You know it's just the faceplate released with the LE? Sure you can get one pretty easily. Not as easy as the Deathsmiles one, that's pretty common as it came with the US release, but YHJ or even the trading station might have one (in fact, I think a Galuda 2 LE just sold... yep, £60, from soundwave.)

Let's have a chat. What's the most aesthetically pleasing console to you, if you had to pick just one?

After Drach posted this pic, I was reminded once again of the sheer beauty of the Wondermega. I think for me, this holds the no.1 spot. There's a PCE briefcase, a white Saturn and a SFC in the running somewhere, but if I had to pick just one... yeah, too sexy:

I also vote for the Victor Wondermega RG-M1 model. (The Sega Wondermega has a white ring, which doesn't look as good, imo.)

Subjective as beauty is it's very difficult to compare consoles from 20-30 years ago to more modern beasts. Much as cars have gone from being blocky to more streamlined in their appearance, so have consoles, but that's not to say that there weren't consoles that looked really good for their time. What looked "futuristic" 20 years ago looks blocky and outdated now.

Well, I have to admit, the wondermega wins. I never really analyzed it's design until now.
The Panasonic Q/Cube is a bit too shiny and flashy although it is certainly very neat. Second place.

Much as cars have gone from being blocky to more streamlined in their appearance, so have consoles, but that's not to say that there weren't consoles that looked really good for their time. I dunno, more old systems had a small and sleek look than new ones. They weren't these huge monstrosities you have now.

I like the look of the Genesis model 2 better, the red buttons look odd.

Not when the power's on and the red LEDs pop up. I find the red buttons *very* fitting as they go with the red LEDs.

The Jap one has even weirder colours (purple/blue), and the US 'Genesis 2' has 'GENESIS' in big letters stuck around the back end of it which I don't like (then again, I also don't like 'Genesis' as a name). I like some colour to go with it.
