Sega R-Type
Just wondering if anyone knows why there's no R-Types on any Sega console since the MasterSystem? I mean, R-Type seems to exist on nearly every gaming machine and handeld known to man except the GG, MD/Gen, Saturn or DC.

I think it's probably the opposite way of thinking: Delta was planned for the best selling system at time, so it was made 3D.dementia wrote:Delta was 3D, so that explains why the Playstation was chosen.
It's not like nowadays when you make a game 3D on pc and then turn around saying, "and now on which console do I release it?"

Quartermann in EGM once said "Is R-Type II going to the Genesis?". I was hoping for it at the time, but the closest we got was SNES Super R-Type (slowdown = bleh).
A Compile-developed 8 Meg version on the Genesis would have had serious potential. The Amiga R-Type II was reasonable, but a Genesis version could have beat it.

Kinect? KIN NOT.

Don't forget about the Saturn Twinbee DX Pack and Parodius games. Those are also flagship series. I still find it odd how Konami released no shmups on the Genesis, especially when they finally made some good stuff on the Genesis like Rocket Knight Adventures and Contra Hardcorps.Kiken wrote:Well, it's not just R-Type... Konami's two flagship series (Gradius and Salamander) were only released on one Sega console (the Saturn).
Personally, I would have loved to have seen a Mega/Sega CD port of R-Type Complete. The only negative aspect would have been the limited colour palette.
I would have loved to see R-Type on the Genesis/SEGA CD too.
