So I finally got this and I've upgraded the firmware (though I'm not sure how to confirm that). The remote is confusing the hell out of me. Some of the buttons seem to work with my HDMI switch, the big red power button actually turns it off. And seemingly random keys make it switch inputs.

The input selection keys are the 6 grouped ones with the darker background and the red button is both power on and off.

Oh boy. I would have thought you had this review memorized (remote buttons identified) by now.

I think you may have misunderstood what I meant. I'm looking at that as I press buttons (though I still don't know how to change the output resolution).

What I'm saying is that I have hooked the mini into this: http://www.monoprice.com/Product/?c_id= ... largeimage

And seemingly random buttons cause it to switch inputs.

RTFM?

http://micomsoft.co.jp/XRGB-mini_m2.pdf

Select output mode to either DVI or HDMI, then select the resolution from the appropriate menu (see page 26).

So the XRGB-mini remote shares IR codes with the Monoprice HDMI switch then? Try placing a piece of electrical/duct tape or a sticker over the HDMI switch's IR sensor!

Reading is for squares, I just played around until I figured it out.

Aha... so I can't have them both function correctly at the same time?

I'm using this cable here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/290872880432?ss ... 1439.l2649

Suppose it's Euro. The label says "Piranha".

The videogames are American. For some reason I can't get the PSX to show up at all with the Framemeister, not even with the composite cable. I tested two PSX consoles and none of them give me any image. The composite cable works with the PS2...

Dude, go experiment! It's just a piece of tape, and you'll know the answer sooner.

Well, you could always roll the tape back over itself and only use a small sliver of adhesive. And using the remote for that device would now be as easy as flicking up the shield. In fact, though, you could probably just use a stick-it note...don't know how well infrared penetrates paper.

There's gotta be a better way, having to get up to lift a piece of tape completely defeats the point of the switch having a remote.

Try placing the switch and the XRGB-mini in different places and point at them and away from eachother?

Alternatively get a different switch, while I know it's still money HDMI switches aren't exactly expensive.

I was planning on upgrading eventually. Why are the sides of the screens darker when using the Wii in 480p?

No, I understood...just trying to be funny.

Anyway, without the ability to change IR codes, not sure how you address your issue with the remote and your HDMI switcher.

Alright IR codes aside.

Why is it when I use the Wii via component in 720p and 1080p mode I get scanlines no matter what I try? 480p doesn't have them.

If I remember correctly, you can hit the C button and turn the V-line option off.

Right, and with 480i/p in and 480p out scanlines currently don't work.

My unit seems to be working fine now, but I haven't had time to figure out the best settings for my consoles yet.
It was the incorrectly wired (as Fudoh pointed out) gamecube rgb-cable that was the problem all along (makes me wish I never downgraded my 1.08 firmware as it doesn't seem to be released officially yet).
One thing is a bit strange though, sometimes when I hook up my Wii or Xbox via component to the D-terminal input I get no picture, if I shut everything off and unplug it from the framemeister and then plug it back and turn everything on again it seems to work fine but I'd like to know why this is.

I have my PAL PSone hooked up via RGB, got the cable 2 days ago (this is why I know that there definitely isn't anything wrong with my unit or my mini-din converter cable), and the picture is nice but I feel like it could be better. Do you guys have any settings to recommend? I havent figured out the scanlines yet, it seems like neither odd or even look right, like they are in between where they should be.

If odd/even scanlines are enabled, you're running a sub-optimal input/output resolution combination anyway. The A scanlines look so much better.

Got my cable from RetroGamingCables today, so obviously opened to up to look at the wiring, it seems a bit odd. Pin 6 doesnt appear to be connected so no left channel and completely wrong colour wires used for R,G,B??....

I just got my Framemeister today. I plugged it up with the same minidin/scart adapter (mine with sync stripper) from RetroGamingCables.co.uk. No green signal and no audio. Opened it up and the green, audio-left, audio-right, and another cable are just sitting there unsoldered--the ends of the wires aren't stripped and there's no visible evidence that anyone even tried to solder the pins, so it's not like it came loose in shipping or something. And since they didn't use the matching colors on mine either, I don't know which of the wires are which without cracking open the minidin side.

I also ordered a minidin/scart adapter WITHOUT sync stripper, and instead of that they accidentally sent me a scart/jp21 adapter. Very disappointed in them, especially for the price. I would have just made the modification myself to the Micomsoft adapter but I really wanted to have everything ready to go when the Framemeister came in so I just spent the extra money.

Currently using the Micomsoft adapter and the scart/jp21 adapter and after adjusting lots of stuff, the XRGB-mini looks fantastic.

EDIT: After observing further, I must retract and admit that they DID solder the lines that were disconnected, but the wire used is so weak that they snapped off the pins. I have resoldered them to the same spots as in your picture (I'm very lucky you happened to have posted that!) and gave it a shot and it works perfectly. The audio lines ARE connected in your picture. Pin 2 (audio out left) is the brown wire at the bottom right of your pic, pin 4 (audio ground) is the white/orange wire, and pin 6 (audio out right) is the black wire.

Yeah its such a fuck up, you would have thought they would of tried to use some common sense when deciding on the wire colours to use, ie

R----------RED
G----------Green
B----------Blue
Ground-----Black
Audio left--White
Audio right-Orange
Sync------Yellow

infact your only need 7 wires so not sure what the 8th wire is for??

I did notice that his cable is missing 5V though, although I suppose it's not needed for the XRGB-mini so it can be left out. Mine has the 5V because it has an LM1881 sync cleaner in it.
