Has anyone yet bothered to compile a complete list of everything included on the DLC install disc? If one exists I ought to use it to re-update my HG101 articles.

Great review of the collection.

I guess that is the best part of the package so far, and what is gonna be the rarest piece of software that Cave has ever done

The soundtrack collection is exclusively of Amazon or it was included with every box?

Thanks

Opinions, we get it...

Other than that, all I can say was the unboxing was real good, I know some critics like who I'm already quoting anyways already have second thoughts about the collection anyways, but in the end, it all comes down to quality and quantity in this package.

Of course though for those that want the full 360 CAVE experience will need this and a JP 360 as usual. (other than the certain games that are still region-free though.) (And yes, I know/read 5pb did DDP-BLEX and Ketsui for the 360, so yeah...)

That is what they did: last ditch clearance before closing the door on the 360. But that DLC is shareable, so everyone wins. :o

Except though, that the install disk only works on JP 360's. >_>

Still don't have an answer if you can transfer it through other region consoles via USB.

I'll say! I mean, I've watched plenty of 20-minute-long videos of people opening boxes before, but this was a memorable one. Nothing was spilled and no heavy objects were dropped on the package. He removed the plastic a little quickly for my tastes, but to each his own!

A shame I already own most of this stuff.

Never been a prob for me, I've always laid out for Japanese consoles where necessary.

Someone suggested a few posts earlier that the DLC can be region unlocked via USB, so that stuff is very likely to hit the intarweb soonish. I'm just grateful to all the folks who shelled out/double/triple dipped so perma-DLC is possible. Oh, and thanks to Cave, too.

If you don't have any/many of the games already it's not a bad package assuming you can get it near RRP but I can't help but feel they've missed a trick here. Had they released it a few months later with SDOJ and some classier packaging with some fancy extras the fanboys would've lapped it up, including me.

Placeholder prediction: I'm thinking one of the next-gen consoles could well play host to such an item.

As you said, this is perfect if you have very little in the box. For me it's pointless: just like buying everything twice with shittier presentation in a big white box. If the 99p store made Cave Collections...

But ripping the DLC to HD is definitely a bonus. No tethering to XBLA has assured its future.

It sounds like I'm in the minority, but I like the calligraphy and I think it's appropriate for this kind of package.

I find that it's the most elegant way to present the box. What were the other options? maybe put a giant C in the middle and "Cave shooting collection" on the base?

Another option would have been creating a composition with most of the characters of the games but the amount of content this pack has would have been very difficult to represent on the front of it without looking baroque... besides, Cave would have needed to contact every artist they have worked with, making it extra difficult.

Finally, this is a conmemorative event and japanese like caligraphy for this kind of things.

Well, I'm sure this is better than some moeblob animeish front cover for some of you right?

I'd like to think that way too, but we haven't got a proper 360 port of Espgaluda and other Cave titles from the PS2/PS1/Saturn (Except Dodonpachi in Instant Brain).

There's always the collage option like done with the shooting artworks book, not that I care/own a 360.

Definitely.

I think calligraphy is elegant, it's everything else that's low grade. A light wood/faux wood box with calligraphy would have been a turn-on, perhaps with a little metal clasp in the shape of a Ketsui cube. Just something with eastern flavour.

Bespoke slipcases for each disc would have been nice, that way cover art could have been featured for everything in there. I wouldn't have minded seeing the Superplays handled the same way for uniformity - but it's clear the DVD's and leftover game discs were just surplus stock, hence the arrangement.

I think the calligraphy looks alright on the big box, but to say that there was "no other option" is ridiculous. Look at the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary box for a better example of how this should have been done: custom art and a consistent design throughout. The difference here is that Cave doesn't have two nickels to rub together, but they do have boxes and boxes of unsold superplay DVDs.

Ideally, Joker Jun would have done some design for it and each game would have its own slipcase or DVD case packaged with the corresponding superplay DVD. Then there would be some additional booklet with exclusive interviews, a lithograph, and a jackrag embroidered with Ikeda's initials.

I'm not saying there was no other option, but when it comes to this kind of things better go with something simple but elegant. As you said, they can't spend too much money either.

But Jun'ya doesn't work for Cave anymore, doesh he?

Just think how inflated that cover would have been with at least one piece of artwork for every game there...

+1
I already own all extra DLC modes, but would still love to see this available after support is dropped for the console

I would like to know this too, I've been hearing different things. Are retailers like ncsx and Eurotaku getting their copies from amazon then shipping to customers?

there are likely no sets without the OSTs yet. All the Amazon stock (even when ordered and dispatched after the release) included the OSTs. A possible RESTOCK probably won't, but up until now all boxes are "initial stock".

I wouldn't be so sure. Play-Asia hasn't included the OSTs in the Box contents for example.

Oh, it says that they're in stock on Apr 02. When they accepted pre-orders before (the ones that were gone as soon as they were available) it said March 26 (or something along those lines) so yeah, I guess you're right.
