CAVE Shooting Collection X360
Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
So, has anyone received the Box without the Soundtrack Collection?

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
I got the email too. Money sent right after I read the email.msm wrote:Did anyone else get an email from nin nin asking for more money toward the postage because they're heavier than expected? It seems legit as the postage cost has gone up by the same amount on their website and they knew my order number...still pretty annoying.

That's awful business practice. They know the weight of their product before buying them in, you can't ask for more money once you've sold something at listed prices. From the mail Nin-Nin sent, the weight increased from what they had and what it ended up being. The reason is because the weight they had was without the 10 disc soundtrack box. Can't say I'm happy about chucking an extra $20 something their way, but at least I know I'm getting the soundtrack cds.Skykid wrote: That's awful business practice. VERY thorough unboxing video is now on YouTube by top chap 'softotaku'.
Main points of the video are:
1. It's Region locked.
2. The DLC is region locked.
3. Guwange is a DLC code.

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
Hey everyone! I had to make a new account because I couldn't find my old info. Sorry! I've been reading the forum for a long time, but I shall endeavor to post more from now on. ANYWAY, I have posted a video on You Tube (SoftOtaku is the channel name) answering many of the questions about this. It's beautiful! I just got it and unboxed it and tried to show everything. There is info in the video description about region stuff, but for those who don't want to go there, I will put it here as well:
Bad, but not unexpected news:
*The Install Disc (or Expansion Contents Disc) is region-locked.
*DoDonPachi DaiFukkatsu Black Label didn't work on my USA console, but Mushihime-sama Futari did, so it seems the region-locking on these discs is the same as the regular versions.
*The Guwange download voucher is region-specific.
*The DVDs are all Region 2.
*DoDonPachi DaiOuJou and Ketsui are not included.
Good News
*The Install Disc appears to be reusable. The contents are on the disc, and you can choose what you want to put on the console.
*The games (besides Guwange) are all on dedicated discs, just like the regular versions. No need to download anything if you just want to play what is on the disc.
Lastly, thank you to everyone who has contributed to this site. I have benefited from it greatly in building my shoot'em up collection. And I hope it's OK that I posted this here!

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
I had not considered the install disc being region-locked! The rest is pretty expected. I have a Japanese 360, so the DVDs should be fine. Too bad the 360 is so much worse at up sacking DVDs than the PS3.
And thanks for the video! Great job.

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
If you have the 360 connected via VGA or HDMI it actually does a nice job of upscaling, IMO.
If anyone in the USA would offer to ship out their install disc to let others rent/borrow it, I'd like to be first in line. Play-Asia screwed me on the Futari DLC and I've never seen another chance to obtain it...until now!

Rupert, keep it on ice for me, I'll take the lot to HD forever and ever.

Another good reason to own a JP 360 right there.

thanks softotaku, nice video. you may have considered this, but i reckon the galuda2 & mushifutari superplay dvds don't have manuals is because that info is contained in their respective guidebooks. perhaps.

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
So I can still play Futari Black Label and Mushi HD1.5 years from now once the xbox marketplace is no longer?
Am I understanding this correctly?
[edit]
Oh wait, Futari Black label wasn't DLC, crap!

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
yeah, I'm just confusing myself at this point. I meant that since it was not a first print DLC Code, I'm guess it's not on the Disk included with the collection. It is a Marketplace DLC purchase, so not on the disk, correct?

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
Hmm, If there’s no license tied to the DLCs, and you want to install them on a US 360, it wouldn’t be very hard to do. Install them once on a JPN 360, copy them on a 360 formatted USB stick and it’s good to go on your other consoles. Although the install disc can be region locked (XEX files can be stamped with a specific region or region combination), the DLC itself doesn’t have a region code. DLC can only be restricted through licenses, and on the buying end, can be only visible to specific Countries. My guess is that the DLC will work in the same way as the Borderlands DLC (from the GOTY disc), the Oblivion one (again GOTY) and the Fallout 3 (GTYO).

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
I'm not sure but wouldn't that make very easy to distribute those contents on the web unoficially? It's strange because of all the safety measures there are against piracy nowadays...
Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
Does the DLC disc work with the original retail games, not just the ones in the box set?
Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
Also, just going to state the fact that you can use DLC when not connected to LIVE, from the console on which the content was originally purchased only ("licensed console"). If you own multiple 360s and have licenses scattered between them, you can transfer all of them to a single 360 of your choice, once a year.
Here's a good strategy against "well, what if my hard drive dies 10 or 20 years from now, and XBL for 360 is history? Do I lose my DLC?"
1) Transfer your licenses to your 360 of choice, if you have more than one. This should ideally be the newest, least-played console you have.
2) If you have either a Memory Unit or a USB memory key handy, transfer your profile to it. (If you have multiple 360s, or play at friends' houses, you've probably done this already anyway.) If not, no big deal.
3) Pick up a spare Xbox 360 hard drive. If you have the older, non-slim 360, used 20gb HDDs are a dime a dozen at this point.
4) Power off your choice console, remove its hard drive and slap in the spare.
5) Insert the Memory Unit or USB key with your profile and sign into XBL (if you weren't able to do this, select "Download Profile," enter your account details, and wait 5-10 minutes for this to complete).
6) Re-download any DLC that you don't want to lose.
7) Repeat steps 3-6 as many times as you like on as many hard drives as you want.
Because the DRM ties your content to your CONSOLE and not your HARD DRIVE, you can just slap in one of the spares if your hard drive dies, and you're off and running again.

Which DLC from the disc would work on a US 360: Futari 1.01, Futari Black Label, MMP/Pink Sweets Matsuri, anything else?genetik wrote:Hmm, If there’s no license tied to the DLCs, and you want to install them on a US 360, it wouldn’t be very hard to do. None. The disc doesn't even start up because the disc itself is the wrong region.jepjepjep wrote:Which DLC from the disc would work on a US 360: Futari 1.01, Futari Black Label, MMP/Pink Sweets Matsuri, anything else?genetik wrote:Hmm, If there’s no license tied to the DLCs, and you want to install them on a US 360, it wouldn’t be very hard to do. EDIT: Sorry! New resolution for me: No posting after 3 in the morning! You even had the bit about moving it from a JP to a US 360 quoted above. My apologies for being a dunce here!

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
If the DLCs truly have no licenses (like the ones from the GOTY I listed), then the content can be freely copied. This means all DLC as long as you can boot the game associated to it on your console.jepjepjep wrote:Which DLC from the disc would work on a US 360: Futari 1.01, Futari Black Label, MMP/Pink Sweets Matsuri, anything else?genetik wrote:Hmm, If there’s no license tied to the DLCs, and you want to install them on a US 360, it wouldn’t be very hard to do. The most they could do with license free DLC is to make them copy protected. But this can easily be defeated by using the various tools on the net to read 360 storage device partitions.

Possibly the DFK DLC, the Deathsmiles IIX music pack, and the themes/gamerpics, though I'm not entirely sure.jepjepjep wrote:Which DLC from the disc would work on a US 360: Futari 1.01, Futari Black Label, MMP/Pink Sweets Matsuri, anything else?genetik wrote:Hmm, If there’s no license tied to the DLCs, and you want to install them on a US 360, it wouldn’t be very hard to do.
