TV Tropes and the Troper culture. I really hate how people treat it as valid literary analysis and not just a bunch of kids making up an excuse to plug their favorite shows.
People who don't like arguments. Or rather, people who try to be internet peacekeepers and always try to stop every discussion that gets a little complicated because OMG it might become a flamewar.
The big thing that bothers me about TV Tropes is directly related to your "people who don't like arguments" bit. The whole attitude of near-total inoffensiveness present there is
fucking weak, I can't describe in a better way.
As for literary analysis, eh. There are valid things to take from TV Tropes, but it's still less serious than Wikipedia, so you take everything with a pinch of salt. Or maybe a whole damn box of Morton's

. Plugging your favorite show isn't a bad thing either, I wouldn't have seen or played quite a few things without having seen it referenced there.
What bugs me is when I see people go on directly referencing TV Tropes labels constantly. Using the things those names represent is fine: tropes are inherent in storytelling. Calling them out by name is less so.
It's really bad reading/watching something and suddenly having your suspension of disbelief
completely shattered with a direct trope name reference. Thank goodness that it's limited to fan-works, but fuck.
Bad guy follows the
Evil Overlord list without calling it out directly? He's actually being smart, it makes for a more dangerous villain, and even having read the list, you'd appreciate it. Bad guy says that he doesn't have the
Idiot Ball?
Stop producing things, author. At least until you can bring yourself not to be so damn unsubtle.
