Not at all, there are just a lot of the games in the series. I'm not even sure what group is saying this anymore. Maybe it's "incomprehensible" until the games are played, but it's not like the story is particularly deep here (great effort is taken to keep that from happening). At the very least, I understand pretty much everything that's happening having only played KH and KHII (clearly that says a lot about me right????).

I/II/III are console games while the rest are for various portables (take those as "spinoffs" or don't), except for that PS2 remake of Chain of Memories. Indeed, if anything will annoy you, it's all the updated rereleases and remakes. It's still not nearly as bad as Dynasty Warriors, though. Anyway, game order is something like this:

-Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (big bad prequel) [PSP]
-Kingdom Hearts [PS2]
-Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (big bad "bridge" entry) [GBA]
-Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days [DS]
-Kingdom Hearts II [PS2]
-Kingdom Hearts coded [Mobile phones e.g. DoCoMo P-01A. That's why there's a DS version.]
-Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance (second big bad "bridge" entry maybe????) [3DS]
-Kingdom Hearts III (scooby doo where are you????????) [PS3??????????????????????????]
Rage Pro, Rage Fury, Rage MAXX!

Treasure developing 3DS exclusive.

A game that you can play in a buisness suit and not feel like a faggot, or something.

Should this game and Kokuga reach western shores, consider me a 3DS owner.

Persona 4 Arena still hasn't been released in Europe, while American and Japanese players have had a headstart of several months, thus eliminating the possibility of fair international competition in the future. There is no justification for this total disregard of their fanbase; it's not like Billions of people would have imported the game, in the process making Atlus lose Trillions due to pricing differences in different territories brought forth by greed (aka consumer milking).
As well-informed and intelligent as ever.
CMoon wrote:*sighs* Here we go again. I'm not convinced that Atlus is pro-region locking. This was specifically for P4A, and there were apparently some reasons directly associated with that game that pushed them toward a region lock. I mean, it isn't hard to imagine them saying, look, P4A being a fighting game means fighting game fans will import the the game before we can release an English version, cutting down on the sales, even jeopardizing the English release as a whole. I don't know if that makes them pro-region locking, or just overly defensive.
There's also the issue of PQube, the European publisher of all recent Arc System Works fighting games over here. They're always late releasing things, months and months after the US releases, and then nobody buys them because everybody who was interested had already imported. It's not too hard to imagine that they've bitched and moaned about this to ASW or Atlus, or whoever, effectively forcing them to region-lock the US release.

Just noticed that this hasn't been replied to:
Obiwanshinobi wrote:Speaking of which, are GB, GBC and GBA games linkable between regions? I have Dynablaster and Bomber Boy - the same game on each cart, just different names - but no second GBA to try out the multiplayer. I'm about to buy one with a backlit screen and would like to know whether looking for second carts of specific regions is relevant, or any region will do (provided the game isn't substantially altered).
Depends on the game. I remember buying the US version of Advance Wars and a friend getting the EU one, and finding that the carts wouldn't recognise each other. I guess it might depend on whether or not the game in question received a proper European localisation - with all the different translations that entails - or if it was just the US version stuck inside a slightly different box.

But it`s the truth. This shitty game was shitty even upon release. Afterburner and Outrun are much better.

Etrian Odyssey IV this week, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in 3 weeks, Luigi's Mansion in a month and Soul Hackers in April.

Monster Hunter actually looks pretty good on my XL. The initial screens didn't look too good, but consider me impressed. I also like how how the controls feel; there's no need for the circle pad pro, imo.

I'm using the regular 3DS, and I feel pretty much the same way. I really like that they mapped the DPad on to the touch-screen, so I'm going to pass on the CPP myself.

Since I'm committed to getting a 3DS, I'm curious about this Monster Hunter series I've heard so much about but never played. I mean, I get the basic idea, go on quests, collect/harvest lots of items, build better equipment to go hunt bigger monsters...

But is it good?

The demo for Castlevania is pretty terrible. Every enemy takes a million hits, none of them are satisfying to kill.

Anybody played Fire Emblem? Who is your waifu?

I have been playing Fire Emblem. I made a female unit and married her to Chrom. Next playthrough, I'm going to name my avatar Batman and try to marry Chrom with Sumia. Trying to decided which path to take with Batman since Batman is more of a physical fighter, but going the magic route allows me to use the dark knight class. Might go for Cordelia or Anna with Batman.

I would have purchased a 3DS XL months ago if not for the region-locking. If you go for a European 3DS, you are pretty much screwed.
Is there a single reason not to get an American (or Japanese) 3DS? Any EU exclusives?

Fire Emblem is really tempting at the moment. Not a fan of SRPGs at all but my girlfriend seems to be all over it.

Still waiting for Etrian Odyssey IV to come through the post. I really missed this sense of anticipation. I haven't bought a new game since Dark Souls... Thank God handhelds have the discerning gamer covered!

Well I'm the idiot that has EO4 but no 3DS. Probably moving in a few months and have to save up money for all the standard expenses.

Heh, I actually bought games for the last several systems I've owned (3DS included) before I picked up the systems themselves, in order to 1) Make sure I got them before some became hard to find, 2) Send at least some small message to the developers that I'm here and interested in their stuff, and 3) Wait for the hardware manufacturers to work out the first-run kinks. I'm kinda an extreme case, granted, but at least you have a legit excuse in comparison!

Those planning on getting the 3DS version of MHTriG should keep in mind that the multiplayer is Ad-Hoc only. The WiiU version, on the other hand, is online enabled. Of course, I`m planning on getting both.

It`s not an absolute necessity, but the second stick makes these games considerably more enjoyable.

I've been worrying about both of these. My DS can use my wireless service, but I get the impression that the 3DS Monster Hunter can't use this to play online with other people. I wan't to be mistaken about that...maybe someone can correct me.

Heard mixed things about the controls.

Ugh. Seen a lot of people on gamefaqs saying man up and play Monster Hunter solo, but I've also heard MH4 is on the horizon. I don't even have a 3DS yet, so maybe I'll be waiting for that.
