Thanks, I will try that.Fudoh wrote:Both the dropouts described by Aatos and the impedance problem by fonf (picture only when run through a switch with another source), should be fixable by adjusting the RGB sync level in the Mini's menu.

yes, the Mini has a fullscreen mode for PSP games.Does the mini have the capacity to fix this issue?

Really? It's got a mode to correct the aspect ratio on PSP games? Payday can't come soon enough, the only thing this little box doesn't do is output ice cream.Fudoh wrote:yes, the Mini has a fullscreen mode for PSP games.Does the mini have the capacity to fix this issue?

My Framemeister has now been sitting in Canadian customs longer than it took to actually travel from Tokyo. Lovely :/ And all so they can, most likely, slap an additional fee onto it :/
Oh well, gotta wait for my SCART cables to arrive anyway....

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I did, yes. I just missed a sale from them, and I even saw it on Amazon.co.jp for a bit cheaper (if I wanted to bother my gf's family to receive it in Japan)... But I felt the fire burning inside me... I needed it immediately. So of course customs screw meShining wrote:I know the feeling and frustrationPixelDharma wrote:My Framemeister has now been sitting in Canadian customs longer than it took to actually travel from Tokyo. Oh well, gotta wait for my SCART cables to arrive anyway....Did you order from Solaris?

Solaris itself shipped it really quickly... so no complaints there. Just angry at my country! ;P
BTW congrats on the RGB Famicom! Of course as a future XRGB owner I am considering the same...

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I think my XRGB is stuck in limbo too, but it's only been a day or so, so I'm not too worried. I wonder which of us will get ours first?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I always hear about stuff getting stuck in customs but it's never happened to me (I'm in the US). Are some countries more strict or have I just been lucky so far?PixelDharma wrote:My Framemeister has now been sitting in Canadian customs longer than it took to actually travel from Tokyo. Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Many countries have significant import taxes, while we pretty much do not (or at least we get out of paying many of them on personal goods).

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Ah I see, thanks. I had always wondered as international shipping always came to me without a fuss, just took a little longer.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Here the import tax is 19% if it's above 22€ (the same as sales tax in Germany) and the chance that you have to pay is 100% with EMS from my experience. So the total price for a Framemeister without cables from Solaris is ~404.81€ for me.
Small parcels with SAL will go through without inspection 2 out of 3 times though.

In Denmark the import tax is 25% + a fee of 160DKR. Hurray!!

Good god, that's robbery. And here I already felt bad for the people in the EU for the PAL crap they've had to put up with. They also get screwed when they try to import stuff apparently.Konsolkongen wrote:In Denmark the import tax is 25% + a fee of 160DKR. Hurray!!

Says it's out of customs now!.... Mine's coming tomorrow maybe? But still no RGB cables, so the moment of truth will be next weekKrakko wrote:I think my XRGB is stuck in limbo too, but it's only been a day or so, so I'm not too worried. I wonder which of us will get ours first?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I have a couple questions. How can I tell whether a SCART cable is Euro/PAL or Japan/NTSC by looking at it? I see it written everywhere that you can't plug Euro into the Framemeister or it will break it. I have only NTSC systems, so are the SCART cables therefore "NTSC/Japan" cables?
Also, there's no current way to hook the Dreamcast up via VGA?
Lastly, have all the "Sync" issues on the RGB mini-DIN port been resolved? No more picture dropouts? I've read accounts where several classic systems weren't working properly.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Framemeister arrived! But I haven't tried it yet. I realized that the voltage might be an issue.
Japan is 100v
Canada is the same as USA - 120v
Would anyone reccomend a converter, or am I safe? My gf seems to think it'd be fine, but the thing costs hundreds of dollars...

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
It's been working on 120v ac for me just fine for the past 8 months or so. From what I've read electronics tend to work ok with US/Canadian voltage, but stuff with heating elements might get too hot.PixelDharma wrote:Framemeister arrived! But I haven't tried it yet. If you're concerned though I think someone noted the size of the tip you'd need on a replacement transformer.

Ah thank you! Yes, I went ahead and tried it. It works fine. (for the record I was wrong.. US/Can is 110v. It's really, really close to Japan's 100v). My GF uses a whole bunch of her Japanese stuff without a converter, so I bet it's just fine.pyrotek85 wrote:It's been working on 120v ac for me just fine for the past 8 months or so. I'm having fun playing around with the unit... but without my RGB cables I'm mostly just upscaling 480i/p stuff that didn't look so bad before anyway. Still, games like Gradius Gaiden with scanlines look just great!
I tried Genesis via composite cable. I think even considering how bad composite is, and considering how bad in particular the Genesis/MD is at outputting composite, I still wonder if I have a dud cable, because it looks SO BAD. There are these weird "plasma" lines dancing across the screen. It's just evil. RGB SCART where art thou!?
I'm gonna try my NES and Famicom via composite after my homework is done... Hopefully it looks "okay".
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
If any of your systems have S-Video that's another option until you get RGB, it usually looks pretty good. Far better than composite at least.PixelDharma wrote:Ah thank you! Ok, so I have tried the NES via composite.Krakko wrote:Ordered mine yesterday, can't wait for it to show up!
Unfortunately, I'm stuck on composite for NES. I really dislike the color change with the RGB PPU mod. How does composite look on the mini? I'm not expecting a miracle or anything, just wondering if it's possible to get it looking comparable to how composite looks on a decent CRT or something. I'm sure scanlines help in masking artifacts.
I suppose I can just wait until its here and have a look for myself, but in the meantime could someone perhaps get a few pictures for me of the XRGB running a composite NES with scanlines? All my lurking and digging hasn't dug up much of anything.
It doesn't give you the effect that RGB does, where it almost looks like you are playing on an emulator. But it looks like it always did, just with the biggest CRT I've ever seen (and better screen geometry to boot).
Because you were already leaning that way, I'd say it is, indeed, good enough. And I think I'm with you... I don't want shifted colors either.
I wonder if that HDMI NES will have shifted colors too?
Sorry I only took one pic before my phone said it was full.. and I'm lazy. I don't know if it's the best illustrator of the quality, but I think you get the picture. Its from an area that is known to be problematic on RGB, to boot.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
eventually you should be able to swap palettes just as you like.I wonder if that HDMI NES will have shifted colors too?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Thanks, PixelDharma!
Kinda hard to get a good idea of things from that pic, but that looks like something I can live with. Thanks for those impressions.

I've finally caved in and bought a mini!

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
My mini is really good at collecting dust.
Only reason why I don't sell it because every time I get rid of any piece of hardware there always comes a time in the future where I regret it.
