Time Crisis sound effects...uhh...
Time Crisis sound effects...uhh...
This is kind of a weird question I guess, but I asked my little brother what txt tone he wanted for his phone (It's new, so I'm setting it up for him) and he said a sound effect from his favorite arcade game, Time Crisis.
So, I went looking for them on the net and I can't seem to find a point in the game where the guy yells ACTION! or something like that without the epic music and gunfire blaring in the bg.
Any ideas where I would think to look? thanks.

Re: Time Crisis sound effects...uhh...
if you have access to the ROM images, use a program called M1 to play individual music/SFX.
The best frontend I've found for said program is BridgeM1.
Time Crisis 1 and 2 are supported (amongst a bunch of other titles) and you can record to .wav files.
http://rapidshare.com/files/277617636/action.zip.html "ACTION!", "RRRELOAD!" and "NEW RECORD!" from TC1.

you could always try the PS1 game see if it has a sound option menu and sample off that if the rom hacking is a bit much.

I have to say the original Time Crisis has one of the best attract sequences evah. The narrators voice is very cool, especially when he growls "Tiiiiime Crisis" over the title screen.

Re: Time Crisis sound effects...uhh...
Skyline how exactly did you manage to extract that file ? My Time crisis disk only have a SLUS_004.05 file inside it, and apparently bridgeM1 doesn't want that file.
Could you explain it to me or even reupload the files (more interested in all the gun sound files)
Thanks in advance !

I think he means the ROM image of the arcade version; So that doesn't come with a disk.jokoon wrote:Skyline how exactly did you manage to extract that file ? My Time crisis disk only have a SLUS_004.05 file inside it, and apparently bridgeM1 doesn't want that file.

EDIT: I found it.
Problem is, how do I save thoe to .WAV without reading them entirely ?
I just discovered I can play arcade games with mame if I find the ROM ! Do you know if the Silent Scope ROM exists ?

It does, but the Silent Scope games aren't playable in MAME yet.
The PS2 ports are good, though, and you can use a USB mouse to TAKE HIM DOWN WITH ONE SHOT.

I could not find the gun sounds, I'm quite sad. Seems those sounds have some special encoding. Too bad.

Re: Time Crisis sound effects...uhh...
If you fire up the game in MAME and go into the service menu, there is a sound test option.
The ACTION sound effect is #115.
I grabbed it with the horrible tools I have at hand (Sound Recorder lol)
Here's a WMA file you can mess with, I think I recorded it 3 times. Load it up into the audio editor of your choice and mess around with it.

And how do you navigate this menu without a GunCon ? I push ctrl, but what key should I use to enter the said menu.shmuppyLove wrote:If you fire up the game in MAME and go into the service menu, there is a sound test option.

Re: Time Crisis sound effects...uhh...
Assign the shot button to left mouse button and the pedal to the right mouse button (or whatever).
Re: Time Crisis sound effects...uhh...
Yaaay
I did it.
If someone wants it I can put it somewhere...
I guess now I can head for the MGS4 ones, I got some heads up, I found some demultiplexer, but it's really a specific case, done by some HCS guy from the xentax forum. I got in touch by mail with him, seems he is busy.
The code he made is available and was originally targeting MGS3, seems he also made another version that would be supposed to work for MGS4, but I could not make it work either.
