Justin Bieber.
Idris Elba.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Han famously carbonited b/w Empire & Jedi? Meaning no one would or could need to play him?

Yeah, series eventually reach the point where they're an albatross, not a blessing. It's too bad that few "IP holders" (or fans, for that matter) are willing to let them go out gracefully.

They could always do something interesting with Sith lore. I haven't looked into much outside the main movies, but I always felt that the Sith were under-explained & underused. A secret cabal of Sith doing Sithy things would be a good start for a new movie, IMO. Bet you any money that's where ep7 heads.

Yep, the events of RoTJ takes place a year later after TESB...so ol' Han is in the clutches of the vile Jabba the Hut for now -- as the main centerpiece in his dank chamber.

Boba Fett sure has plently of tricks up his sleeves in getting the job done no matter what the possible outcome is. The IG-88 droid is another ruthless bounty hunter that been known to kill anybody that gets in it's way.

Sorry - I'd read about two proposed films - Boba Fett set between Empire and Jedi, and a Young Han Solo film set before Star Wars... You can just imagine how awful it'll be. Bieber might get it.

To crib a line from Redlettermedia, it's the "Police Academy" effect. They kept making Police Academy movies, not matter how awful and unnecessary and artistically bankrupt, until the last movie's budget exceeded the box office return.

Mark my words, they WILL reboot Citizen Kane. McG will direct.

Actually, this was described in some other SW novel which I have yet to read (I believe it is from a more recent SW book). Having recently re-read the Heir to the Empire trilogy in a couple years ago, I can confidently say that the only reference to Endor in those books is that Leia uses the moon as a rendezvous point for meeting with one of the Noghri assassins.

In regards to The Black Hole, I freaking LOVE that movie. When I saw a poster for that movie on the kid's wall in the Tron Legacy movie, I flipped and nearly bought one for myself. Since Hollywood is so bent on making remakes of movies, I say that they would do well to leave Back to the Future alone and remake The Black Hole instead. That would be so badass. The premise of the movie is spectacular: a space exploration vessel in search of intelligent life stumbles upon a ghost ship in deep space, on the brink of a black hole, where they meet the crazed captain who murdered his entire crew and turned them into zombie cyborgs. When they discover the truth, it's a matter of survival and escape. How is that NOT cool? It's only flawed due to a bit of the cheese factor in its production.

I do wish they'd release The Black Hole on Blu-Ray, I love that film - the story and the way it was made. It's a film I'd not be averse to seeing a modern remake of though.

V.I.N.cent, the most human of all the characters in the cast (though not by much; Old Bob was pretty awesome too, and honestly the regular actors and actresses were all greats; could have been given somewhat better material but as people point out this was the dawn of a new film era).

Yea I read that one in junior high, as well as Tales from Jabba's Palace.

I'm glad I still own my old guide books, like The Essential Guide to Characters, that have no mention of any midichlorians or any of the other awful prequel shit. For as shamelessly commercial as Star Wars has always been, pre-prequel Star Wars now has an added charm to it.

The X-Wing novels by Michael Stackpole and Aaron Allston are a great read and have great characters. Also, the prequel X-Wing comics series by Stackpole and published by Dark Horse are awesome, too. Some characters are instant fodder, but you really connect with the characters and it's a great diversion from the Luke, Han, and Leia characters. They don't even revolve much around Wedge, even. They are a great read, and harken back to the days when we all assumed that Jedi were free to marry and have kids... back before they were turned into cradle robbing, celibate, inept morons.

A remake was planned, but it's uncertain when (or if) it will happen now. It was originally the project that Joseph Kosinski was due to direct after Tron Legacy, but was delayed when the proposal for Oblivion came together first. It's uncertain whether Kosinski is still attached now that Tron 3 is picking up pace.

Wow, that documentary owns. From 3:20 ish:

That was posted somewhere a while back -- I think here, but maybe not this thread. It is all kinds of awesome though!

So I've just read this on IGN about the proposed Boba Fett film
Latino Review report that Star Wars: Episode VII co-writer Lawrence Kasdan has pitched the following story for the much hyped Boba Fett solo movie:

"The spin-off will start with a complete stranger killing Boba Fett and taking his armor, starting a Man-With-No-Name bounty hunter tale. So: someone kills the Boba Fett from the prequels and takes his armor and name. One this is for certain [sic] is that Kasdan didn’t like the prequel and wants no Boba Fett Clone in the spin-off film."
It's a great idea so it will never happen. A giant fuck you to the prequels and all the mucking about with the original trilogy. There have been a few rumours floating around about these new films - this one probably isn't true. I guess this is still the right thread for it uh?

Interesting article about how LucasArts was also screwed by... wait for it.. Lucas. Might have been posted earlier - apologies if so.

Plus an interesting article about Marcia Lucas and her influence on the bitch.

Yeah, right. All that Jango shit in the prequels... the guys wasn't edgy. Would be better if they maimed Bobba Fett as a kid and took his dad's armor. Dark.

There has been some talk about fan edits to the prequels, such as the Phantom Edit. Since quality is the absence of defects, I imagine they rise to the lofty heights of mediocrity. I'm not a fan of SW so I never watched any of them; any opinions?

Remember when that actor that played Jar Jar was talking about how super excited to get to work with Natalie Portman, like "aaalll right! she's so awesome and dreamy <3" and then he got to the set and found out it was just going to be him in front of a green screen. No Natalie Portmans were ever to be met on that job. Kind of sums up the entire thing - a bunch of actors all alone reading from a teleprompter in front of a green screen.

George you emotionless robot bitch, at least let your actors meet one another once or twice >_<

I've already written off any and all new Star Wars material as a lost cause.

Prequel edits are like polishing a turd ..

Yeah... I kinda cringe anytime I hear Star Wars anymore, really. Such a bastardized and over hyped franchise with probably the worst fan base around. I'd be content with never hearing another thing related to the series for the rest of my existence--and this is all coming from a guy with a cat named Tauntaun.
