Cool a resident evil thread

Yeah those monsters you mention are called lickers, they only appear in resident evil 2, however there are similar enemies in re3

Nemesis can shoot you with a rocket launcher, ram you, grab you, throw you and skure you with his tentacles. + he mutates a bit.

The lickers are failry tough to kill on the ground as they lie low, they're nasty yeah.

Nemesis is resident evil 3 only, the big black guy in resident evil 2 is a tyrant.

Not sure if you witness nemesis creation in code veronica however in the ps2 version there are some differences than the DC version, wesker moments most notably, but not heard of nemesis.

Yeah in the hardest skill level you knock nemesis down then you run off to the next area without being followed, but if you wait he will get back up and you,ll have to lather rinse and rekill. 90 times means they've killed him again and again each time until he stopped coming. Theres probably around 10 nemesis non boss encounters.

re3 is a cool game, I didn't like re2 thought it was boring weakest in the series. Re4 is great as is CV.

That guy in the trech coat in Resident Evil 2 is called 'Mr. X' i think. He is a tyrant - though a modified form of one that seems to be a little more cunning. Unless the tyrant in RE1 was acting that way because he was prematurely birthed and 'unprogrammed'. Maybe they are all like that.

Nemesis wasn't a tyrant was he?

Personally i think the most badass RE monster is the leech man. That's just twisted.

Oh, and Code Veronica wasn't even programmed by Capcom so i don't count it as a real Resident Evil. That game has the stoopidest story. Robot Wesker? Claire and Leonardo Dicaprio love story? Fuck that game.

I'm not familiar with the leech man.

Robot wesker wtfbbq?????? Hes still flesh and blood, he was already dead in re1 before the tyrant skewered him, some g virus variant, he regenerated afterwards and maintained working for a rival biotech company of umbrella.

Are those resident evil outbreak games any good?

The leech man was in Zero.

And the outbreak games are ok.
However, they don't allow voice chat or keyboard chat.
They're said to be ok, but nothing excellent.
Single player is also supposed to be weak.

WTF?
I've heard there was actually an intelligent zombie in Land of The Dead, which had its own plot going on in its head.
Sounds interesting... That's something you don't see every day in a zombie movie.

I've also heard that Romero wrote a comic series called Toe Tags, which takes place in his Dead universe, around the time-frame of LotD, and deals with some of the zombie-evolution issues that couldn't be addressed in the movie

What's this "Dead universe"? Is it the earth after everybody has been turned into zombies?
And what's with that "zombie-evolution issues" that couldn't be addressed in the movie?
They actually evolved?
Sounds spooky!

For anyone who likes these games that's still in this thread: I LOVED the first Resident Evil (and Director's Cut). How do you think I'd like that remake on the GC?

Thanks in advance,
Pa

Depends. It's basically the same thing but much prettier, with slightly more complex mechanics and mostly rearranged areas. Additionally, you NEED to keep track of items since you're given very little of... well, just about everything.

If that sounds like it appeals to you, pick it up. It's pretty cheap these days, and I think it's a good example of how to properly remake a game.

i love RE1 too but didnt like the remake at all, all the extra stuff added doesnt fit in at all, feels like they added stuff cause "the kids will think thats sooooo cool/scary" without implementing it well into the original game/story, which just doesnt sit right with me, sometimes less is more.. if you catch my drift..

Pa, I'd pretty much go with sethsez on his assessment of the RE remake. I loved the original, and liked the remake quite a bit.

That being said, I still think you should peep RE4. I had a lot of reservations about it, but was blown away once I played it. The only annoying thing about the game to me was the "quick time events", a la Shenmue. I wouldn't say that those spoiled it for me though, as those are relatively few and pretty far between (except for that one bit late in the game...sheesh).

Hmmm...I might have to play through those 2 games again this week...if I can pry myself away from Raiden III.

I say the remake is the shizzy-de-bizzy bang bang bizzle! Alright i'm sorry about that but it is extremely cool. Get it.

I liked the remake better.

It follows the same mansion layout, twists some of the puzzles, adds some outside areas that were not in the origonal game.

There are alot of nice touches like dust clouds from the carpet as you run, the hallowing wind sounds, some lighting that god would be proud of.

In the remake you get some knives which act as a safety net in case you get bitten. So instead of getting bitten your hero will pull a knife and stab the zombie in the head instead. You only get bitten if you have no knives, there are also some electric bomb things which do a similar thing.

There is also this weird hench woman that walks around that you cannot kill that lives out in the woods. Freaky stuff.

The only thing I didnt like about it is the begining, where finding the keys and the doors is pure experimentation and you might run out of ammo just finding your way about. Its also a little more confusing following the map in the remake.

Its hard in Japanese, some of the puzzles give clues in the pictures..
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

The perfect villain for the next RE game should be this guy.
I've heard his noise n' stuff were falling off at a concert some time ago.
It’s kind of ironic how he predicted his own future, in the 80's video clip with the Zombies.

Thanks alot guys! I already own it so it's really about the time. Time is money and I wouldn't want to waste precious time on a weaksauce remake. Looks like I'll be playing it. Thanks again.
