Resident Evil 2 The Movie....

Post by ST Dragon »

Last night, I watched Resident Evil 2 the Movie on DVD, at a friend’s house.
I’ve never really gotten into any of the games & only seen the ending of RE2 on the PS-1, when a friend completed it or me.
But Man, that was one hell of a crap movie!
It was even worse than the previous one!
Luckily I didn’t pay to watch either of them…
A very laughable experience indeed.

It’s surprising that the Action Movie industry is still alive, with all these retarded excuses of films being released every year.

Last summer I watched “Dawn of The Dead” at the Cinema, which I quite enjoyed. But how good is House of the Dead & that other zombie film that came out 2-3 months ago? (Can’t remember the title, I think it was: ““-------” of the dead.”
Or something similar.

Must be doubly surprising then that the Action Game industry is still alive.

House of the Dead - Stunningly awful. I almost though it was impossible in this day and age to make a film as completely inept as, say, Bride of the Monster. But I was wrong. For maximum pain, try it as a double feature with Alone in the Dark, the other Uwe Boll-directed videogame adaptation.

I think the other one you're thinking of is Shaun of the Dead, which is a brilliant film: hysterically funny, and loaded with zombie flick in-jokes. Highly recommended.

Oh, and speaking of remakes/adaptations: did I really see that there was a direct-to-video remake of Earth Vs. the Spider starring a porcine Dan Aykroyd, or was I hallucinating? EDIT: Apparently I wasn't hallucinating. It was made for TV back in 2001. *runs away screaming*

Actually, I think it was "Land of the Dead". I watched some trailers of this zombie movie 2-3 months ago, but I thought it was all ready out 1 month ago.
Is Land of the Dead any goood?

Now about RE...

What was that Nemesis guy supposed to be in the RE3 game?
Was he a mutated Zombie?
What was his mission in the game & who created him?

I would imagine he has nothing to do with the guy in the RE2 movie I saw yesterday...

Oh man, I totally forget. I think it was a human with either the T or G virus. He HATES S.T.A.R.S.! Sufficeth to say, RE3 was way cooler than the recent RE movie. I liked that first RE movie alot though.

Anyone see The Devil's Retards or whatever by Rob Zombie? Looked interesting enough.

Does he also attack the zombies in the RE3 game, or just you?

Ahh, yeah, I should have guessed better, as Shaun... came out a while back.

Land of the Dead is great. A wonderful return to form by the originator of the modern Zombiepocalypse* film: George Romero. Loads and loads of grue, good characters, and Romero's usual "biting" social commentary. Good quality.

^Ya know, I thought about it, but I didn't want people to ask, "Which user is called Bricktop?" (EDIT: I also didn't know if I should credit the character, the actor, the writer, or the film...)

Heh, I sure wouldn't want to be fed to the pigs, though.

For all who don't know, my sig is from the film Snatch, written and directed by Guy Ritchie, and is spoken by the character Bricktop, played brilliantly by the excellent Alan Ford.

^According to the IMDb, he's been in several TV shows and a few flicks, including the latest Exorcist sequel (which I haven't seen). The only other film I remember him from (other than Lock, Stock...), is An American Werewolf in London. He had a small role as a foul-mouthed cab driver, IIRC.

Is Nemesis the Final Game Boss of RE3?
Judging by the film & by the looks of the Game front cover, he seems to be one mighty freckle kicking dude.
Do you kill him in the end, or does he reappear in RE4?

Back in 1997 my mate showed me the ending of RE2...
The huge, uncontrollable, speeding locomotive & that gigantic mutated worm thing that would re-spawn every time it was blown up.

I've also seen the intro of RE1, with the abominable dogs of chaos, chasing you across the fields & the spooky mansion where you flee for safety.

There was a funny part in RE3 where a guy locks himself up in a huge metal container & refuses to follow you outside, but when you return after some time, you find him eaten up!

These are the types of games that I would rather watch than play.

At this point, me too. It's been so long since I played RE3 I can't remember if you kill him or not or if he's the final boss or not. I sure did love that one at the time though. Code Veronica was the last one I had the patience for. I hear 4 is all action all the time and I think that sounds nice.

I've read that the story of "Code Veronica" for the DC, is supposed to be taking place in-between the vents of RE2 & RE3 and at some point you witness the creation of Nemesis...?

Correct me if I’m wrong.

Also doesn't RE ZERO for the Game Cube, supposed to take place before the events of RE1 for the PSX & Saturn?
How good are Zero & Veronica?

Zero is my second favorite claasic RE after RE2. It has awesome bosses and the difficulty in Hard is quite good. There were parts of the game that I had to run because I was running out of ammo (partly because I let the AI waste my ammo at the beginning.)

In RE3 you get to choose whether or not you waste the Nemesis. If you do, you get the better ending. Mind you, this is after around a half-dozen encounters. Side-note: The more times you defeat the Nemesis, rather than run, the more crap he leaves behind when defeated. Gotta love that nifty lever-action shotgun.

Zero is pure bullshit. From the ridiculous bosses, to the inane storyline about worms, to the sheer stupidity of it all (am I really expected to believe that the normal maintenance procedure for getting on top of the train involves breaking a grappling hook out of a fire extinguisher type enclosure, hanging out the window of said speeding train and then firing said grappling hook so I can climb up?) we have a game that is as stupid as it is boring. Way worse than even the first Biohazard Gun Survivor. This is the only RE I started but didn't finish. And that convict character and his tattoo...

Disgraceful. It's the main reason I haven't rushed out to buy 4.

CV is hella good.

didnt nemesis appear in RE2 first? or was that some other guy just ridin on his wave?

ed: oh yeah pa is right RE0 is such a piece-of-shit game its not even funny, story is the WORST and most ridiculous ever, as are the enemys (giant insects wtf!?!)...

CV is great but doesnt feel quite as spot on as 1,2 and 3..

RE4 is a great game mostly because it has little to do with the rest of the series. It had gotten so convoluted and inbred that Capcom just went back to the drawing board and mostly ignored what had been going on in the series.

The end of RE3 was a nuclear explosion wiping out the whole of Raccon city and its surrounding areas. So I would think the Nemesis died one way or the other.

I remember the clock tower encounter which was hard as nails and finally in the boiler room where you finished him off.

RE4 is a FPS game in disguise with alot of AI and Quick timer events thrown in. Its also very hard especially near the end. I died more on the quick timer events than I did on the main game, which is painfully annoying.

RE0 wasn't really that good imo. It was very hard to control 2 people at the same time and the puzzles were generated around 2 people helping each other out all the time. I hated the back tracking. At one point in the church I was stuck forever, it was only after 5 days I realized the grappling hook that I found on the train that I left behind near the begining the of the level was needed to proceed. To get to it I had to fight foes that had regenerated or turned even nastier and I always found I was low on ammo.

I don't see how RE4 is a FPS at all. You can't strafe and you can't move while shooting. A FPS without either of those is like a platformer without a jump button. Honestly, it pretty much controls like any other RE game with a few tweaks and better aiming.

When I think of FPS like TPS games, I think of MDK2, though it has elements like platforming and puzzles in it too. Then again, so do many FPS games.

I though CV was the worst.
The game gets so tiresome that multiple playthroughs are worthless.

The amount of backtracking involved is also horrendous.

I've heard that in RE3 if you play the game hardcore, you kill Nemesis 90 times!

WTF?

Does he re-generate all the time?

Nah, he just pops up [pseudo-]randomly from time to time.
The premise DOES involve you being hunted by Nemisis within the city.

And pay no attention to the RE4 haters.
They apparently prefer waiting in the corner while aiming their shotguns at the ceiling.

When ever he "randomly" appears from time to time, is there any shocking, scary FMV sequence like the DOOM3 cut-scenes, which adds more to the atmosphere upon his entry into the scene?

My friend was demonstrating RE3 back in 2001. He would walk around the burning-ravaged city, waiting for Nemesis to show up, but alas he did not. :?

Judging by the cover, he doesn’t look too pleasant & not too happy with your acquaintance.
Is he one of the all-time bad-ass villains? :?:
Or is it just a case of misunderstanding & he is a really good guy?

The Nemesis is programmed to turn up at certain points, he won't just turn up if you wait for him.

Its funny because you can lock yourself in the save room and he will never come in

I would run in there quick as a mouse in a hole, save quickly.. then when I return out into the street he would be somewhere nearby, but not close enough to swipe me again.

You can use lame tricks like that in the early RE's

Does Nemesis only attack you by firing his guns against you, or does he also charge, grab you & rip you into pieces?

I remember an FMV cut-scene in RE2… A gruesome monster showed up, with a huge tongue & exposed brain hanging from the ceiling!
I think it was the same as the 3 fast monsters that appear in the church in RE2 movie.
But I could be wrong...
What were they?
Are they tough to kill in the game? Do they appear in all 5 RE games or just in RE2 game & do they attack in packs of large numbers?
Their speed & way they hang from the walls & ceilings, reminded me of the “Imps” in Doom3.
Are they nastier?
