thinking of it. While (as previously stated) the NG version would need a complete alternative set of graphics, the DC should indeed be able to handle a "rotation" step. Maybe just with 1:1 mapping of the original 240x320 onto the 480p line output and with optional fullscreen scaling in addition. Please please please add the possibility to rotate the image for the Dreamcast version. Surely that wouldn't require more than a couple of lines of code?

let's turn it around.rancor wrote:Don't shit on it yet - You're pretty much being shown an alpha of the game, and Timm has just demonstrated that he is listening to his base regarding what we like / don't like. If there's something specific that you don't care for, say something!![]()
After playing and loving Fast Striker, I have no doubt that this game will be awesome as well.
Well, not much is known about the game, however, I'm really digging the visuals. Looks a lot better than what NGDEV has previously put out (seriously, what is with the garish colours and weird shading?).Super Laydock wrote:What's here that people are so excited about?
You're seriously wondering why people are excited about an upcoming shmup... on a shmup forum?Super Laydock wrote: let's turn it around.
What's here that people are so excited about?
Well that's your opinion but I bet a lot of people will see the "stock" graphics as proper STG graphics! Even more importantly, no silly gameplay gimmicks! Unless there are some, hard to say based on the short teasers.Super Laydock wrote: But it seems 'stock' looking graphics/theme, no new gameplay, no gimmicks to make it stand out.
Yeah, and Super Laydock is the pinnacle of design.Super Laydock wrote:I can't say I am excited.![]()
Looks (below) standard and uninspired.
Seems like the only reason to make this is that it'd be the NGeo's first tate game.
But guess I 'm alone on this.
Well, no one can say the Hellwigs' games are objectively very good. There's always been cross-pollination among shooters, but where someone like Yagawa would take a game he liked and make it his own, NG:DEV.TEAM would just produce a somewhat inferior imitation. Where they're successful is in capitalizing on the attachment Neo-Geo (and to a lesser extent, Dreamcast) owners have to those consoles. If the exact same titles had been released for XBLA, many of the same people buying would instead laugh them off.Super Laydock wrote:I can't say I am excited.![]()

that's a rhetorical question I hope. Not every shmup = excitement per se.hermit crab wrote: You're seriously wondering why people are excited about an upcoming shmup... on a shmup forum?![]()

Except trap will have to make a rank counter patch (assuming this is that kind of game).mice wrote:How can anyone not be excited by these movies? I'm just sitting here smiling when watching them.
Best of all; there are no god darn counter numbers filling the screen. You can actually see the beautiful pixel art!
Game seems to already display rank.Ed Oscuro wrote:Except trap will have to make a rank counter patch (assuming this is that kind of game).mice wrote:How can anyone not be excited by these movies? I'm just sitting here smiling when watching them.

You were criticising us. Not making negative observations on a game. Perhaps because THE GAME IS NOT EVEN FINISHED YET.Super Laydock wrote:lol, first time I am having criticism (negative observation) on a new NG:DEV game coming to DC and people jumping on me right away!![]()
Yeah this site is full of haters. Just look at this guy:Super Laydock wrote: (I have seen great shmups being met with more criticism than this so far... *cough*.. Chaos Field *cough*)
Objectively good... ahahaha. There's no such thing! But hey, as long as they are subjectively good to me I'll be happy. And two of the titles released so far have been. Also the titles seem to be getting better every time.Mortificator wrote: Well, no one can say the Hellwigs' games are objectively very good.
yes, that was exactly what I was doing.hermit crab wrote: You were criticising us.
Yeah, I mean Yagawa is one of the best shmup designers alive, but not every game that has rank is a cheap copy of his games. Another solid NeoGeo shooter is fine w/ me.Yeah this site is full of haters. Man you have no taste.Ed Oscuro wrote:Those pink bullets are driving me nuts. Definitely more Cave than Toaplan in that respect, but eh, the rest might be a nice homage. Some Toaplan + NMK-like ship in the middle. I also have to admit I find that section of background rather underwhelming, but I was under the impression that backgrounds change over pretty quickly.
