Seems this hasn't been mentioned here so...
Shooterhouse is bizarre, unforgiving and kinda fun!
Also...the chainsaw upgrade is awesome 8)

Oh good, I really like it when after waiting through obnoxious faux arcade system test and copyright warning, I start playing and immediately die to some cheap-as-fuck hands popping out of the ground with no warning, and that completely ignore the invincibility flickering period after getting hit.

thanks for checking out the game! :)

@Udderdude - i'll have to check out the invuln period on those, i didn't have any problems with it in testing, i might've goofed something at the last minute, whoops! it was a one-week dev project for Halloween. i'm fully aware the game is unforgiving, cheap, and ridiculous, but the original Splatterhouse is very much the same way, and i wanted to capture that in full. i went into this thinking "i need to make a really funny kusoge for halloween!" and it ended up being a fairly polished kusoge instead! lighten up ;)

From what I can tell the invuln period doesn't work *at all*. I ran into an enemy and got an instant reset, or whatever this thing's equivalent of a Game Over is.

whaaaa? it's working perfectly fine on this end (and on a few other machines as well), and i just booted it up again to check. no clue why it might be acting up on your end aside from general MMF2 funkiness?

and an instant reset? stages start over after lives lost and there's a game over screen and all that, so i don't know exactly what you're seeing on your end considering you don't seem to be able to identify what's happening. could you clarify?

I played again: turns out what I thought was lives being lost was some kind of secondary lives (the hearts) to the actual lives (the masks) where the level gets restarted. This had me quite confused. Still, I'm sure I had two+ hearts when colliding into a single enemy (the chairs seem fine but later on down the stage) only to get "URRAAAAAAAGH" main life lost.

i can't, unfortunately. the Clickteam guys have been at antivirus developers for quite some time insofar as filing reports time and time again and the executables continue to get flagged from time to time.

thanks for clarifying, hahaha - i'll have to go through and see what's up. may or may not release an update, i tend to post something and never touch it again in regards to the game dev hobby :lol:

That sucks, you would've thought that any AV package would be complying with commercial development software to overlook that sort of thing. That sounds like a lot of drama, to be fair :(

@renardqueenston

How many stages has the game? Any chance for a level select?
And the most important one...how can I extract the music out of the package?
Enjoying your game quite a bit btw :D
