I don't appreciate being talked down to, Ed. I thought my post was reasonable, plus it's coming from someone that didn't even participate in the tournament but watched it from the sidelines. People posted a lot of negative stuff before during and now after. People get heated during a competition and I don't think it has a real "friendly" or at least non-competitive atmosphere, that's all I was pointing out.Ed Oscuro wrote:Don't project what you focus on onto everybody else. STGT'12: The Aftermath

Re: STGT'12: The Aftermath
I think it's ironic that you don't see how you're proving my point. It's all about the attitude a person carries.
There was some real unpleasantness this year, I understand, off in IRC or somewhere with somebody who I haven't heard of before being mocked. But that sort of thing is pretty rare and at least some of the people who said they were involved won't do it again. But your idea that Shmups has always been bad...well, I seem to recall many discussions where you were calling other people shitposters, being called a shitposter, etc. Just a bunch of meaningless nonsense really. The world is what you make of it.

Re: STGT'12: The Aftermath
Or maybe you're just an attention-whoring bag of hot air who jumps at every other thread that sees some traffic to prance around and prentend your opinions are the center of the discussion. Why don't you just fuck off back to off-topic where your kind of condenscending empty posturing finds a more passive audience?Ed Oscuro wrote:I think it's ironic that you don't see how you're proving my point. Go ahead and report this, make my day. Tell the mods you've been here since before these annoying post-2009 kids who talk back. Call for massive arbitrary bans. Go on, I dare you, lets see what happens since you are the one desperate to pick a fight. I'll give you a fight if you want one so much, don't worry about that.

Re: STGT'12: The Aftermath
I think it's more ironic that you suggest a more positive vibe for the forums in the same thread where you posted the contents of a private message with ebarrett, calling him a "jackass" and a "slobbering idiot."Ed Oscuro wrote:I think it's ironic that you don't see how you're proving my point. But I'm not particularly interested in arguing about this stuff, so I'll just say that I agree with Prometheus in that replays wouldn't be a bad idea and leave it at that.
Re: STGT'12: The Aftermath
That's damn low even for you. Let's get clear on what we're saying:NTSC-J wrote:I think it's more ironic that you suggest a more positive vibe for the forums in the same thread where you posted the contents of a private message with ebarrett, calling him a "jackass" and a "slobbering idiot."Ed Oscuro wrote:I think it's ironic that you don't see how you're proving my point. I posted an example of completely unacceptable behavior where somebody wanted to harass me behind the scenes and get away with it. That seemed to stop it dead in its tracks.
You're effectively slagging off the entire forum and you're shocked, absolutely shocked that it's not generating great happiness, because you didn't name any names, right?
A key difference in how we're operating is that I've always tried to look for the issues that can be resolved. The score verification debate was best when people were talking about how score submission works specifically, or when describing what was expected from changes. The debate was not helpful when people wanted to ignore obvious facts and continue to talk in airy terms about the promised land and how all the changes couldn't possibly step on any toes. Sometimes when you look at the facts you step on toes, but hopefully you still end up getting where you're going. In your post I don't see anything intended to be helpful, just sour grapes.
I feel sorry for you. Have some pride and don't stoop to these lows, please.ebarrett wrote:Or maybe you're just an attention-whoring bag of hot air who jumps at every other thread that sees some traffic to prance around and prentend your opinions are the center of the discussion. Re: STGT'12: The Aftermath
I know you don't. And don't worry, I have no qualms about lowering myself to your level. Now if you'll please "get the mods involved", as you have once "threatened".Ed Oscuro wrote:I feel sorry for you. Have some pride and don't stoop to these lows, please.

Re: STGT'12: The Aftermath
This is just embarrassing...or is that ebarretting? The mods already were involved - you were just unable to comprehend that you were being told nicely to stop what you were doing, or more likely you chose to ignore it because fuck being nice on forums and what other people have to do, you just need to score points in random squabbles (for no reason)!
Pretty funny how far you've taken your outrage over some random guy on the Internet claiming to have seen drama in STGT first-hand (ironic that I realized afterward that there was indeed something else I hadn't heard about), but that's not what you're angry about anymore - don't kid yourself. Do yourself a favor and stay away from sharp things for a while.

I think we're done here.
