But fuck Microsoft and their FPS only consoles.

Well Dengenki Online had some suggestions of this. I posted about it a few days ago in this thread. Too early to know for sure though. It still could just be speculation/mistranslation/false rumor...Valgar wrote:I don't know where they got this.
Once again, there have been XBOX's that have failed.Nemo wrote:Sweet, nothing would make me happier than to see the failure of the ForemanGrillStation 3 so those arrogant A-holes at Sony get what they deserve for subjecting consumers to shoddy hardware and inane policies. No loss?? So, if Panzer Dragoon Orta is one of your favorite games, and it doesn't happen to make the cut, then that's no loss? Or how about Outrun 2; there's another great game that might not make the cut; not to mention the Serious Sam games, and the numerous old-school gaming compilations from Midway, the upcoming one from Capcom, etc. There are plenty of great games, like these, that might not even make the cut, just because of sales figures. That's absurd, IMO. All this, and we still don't even know if this 360 Treasure shmup will be domestically released.Rob wrote:Because to play games on it it will have to physically be in our presence.dave4shmups wrote:And why does it matter what the heck the PS3 looks like?
No loss there.Besides the fact that the 360 will probably only be able to play a pretty small fraction of the XBOX's titles

If Microsoft wants to pay companies to release unique, experimental or niche games on their hardware, more power to 'em. It's nice to see that kind of development being encouraged rather than just "allowed" at most.uwfan wrote:BulletMagnet wrote:Hmmm, the 360 does seem to be attracting the attention of shmup developers, one way or another....

corrected.
Hear hear. I read something a while ago about Xbox wanting to support more "high-risk" genres on the 360, so maybe what we're seeing here is some evidence of that. I find most of what the Xbox offers at the moment utterly tiresome, so they as a company are obviously really climbing in my esteem with things like this.If Microsoft wants to pay companies to release unique, experimental or niche games on their hardware, more power to 'em. Nah, if it's strictly a home console developed game, it'll probably be some f'd up experimental game like Bangaioh. If it's an arcade port, it'll be a port of their upcoming Type-X arcade shmup (which would make the most sense), whatever that is.ThirdStrike wrote:I know which shooter is coming out on Xbox 360
Project RS3 LOL

Why are people bashing the PS-3 for its looks & the boomerang controller?
Yeah, but the PS2 had better hw then the xb and so has the PS3 compared to the Xbb0x 360. So think b4 you write butthole.Nemo wrote:Sweet, nothing would make me happier than to see the failure of the ForemanGrillStation 3 so those arrogant A-holes at Sony get what they deserve for subjecting consumers to shoddy hardware and inane policies. From the Edge interview with Mr. Maegawa you don't get the impression it will be project RS3 or whatever. It's getting me curious though.twe wrote: If it's an arcade port, it'll be a port of their upcoming Type-X arcade shmup (which would make the most sense), whatever that is.
I doubt they'll do this for every XBOX game. From what I've heard this is going to be very expensive to do in the first place.zakk wrote:dave4shmups wrote:[

I really wish people would stop saying this. They've publically stated their eventual goal is near 100% compatability. "patches" are for games that do odd things, like access the hardware directly, or rely on some subtly broken behavior of an API call etc. They even had a financial call where they outright said they're paying Nvidia royalties in order to do the emulation. The games they have to 'patch' will rightly be prioritized based on popularity, and they will most likely be the exception.
