I don't understand what the complaints are, so if CRS is picked, it better be good enough to not make me regret listening to you guys. Is there any scoring system in CRS?

The scoring system in CRS is attempting to stay awake through the first loop in order to get to the second, where you can kill more things for points.
Dimahoo is a fun game.

You also have to try to stay in the middle of the items while trying not to accidentally pick them up in order to get all the items.

But yeah, screw that. Plus we've had enough loop games.

Indeed. Haven't we had enough games with really easy first loops.

The question is actually quite simple.

Is there a Yumeko in Chorensha? No? MS it is then. That boss is bloody dope.

Okay, while it doesn't matter because either is a better choice than Mystic Square or Cho Ren Sha for a week of serious score playing, it should still be noted: What version of Super Star Shooter is it? Super Star Shooter or Super Star Shooter v2.00?
My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself

Caravan games are cool and Mystic Square is fine. Just don't pick Cho Ren Sha, I don't want to play more looping games :(

Is it possible to play Cho Ren Sha or Super Star Shooter on OS X? The only X68K emus I find are for OS 9 or PPC Macs.

If we're going to play a touhou game, I don't see why we can't have it be a good one.

<ketborad> let's just play dimahoo for week 5
<Zerst> yes

<chum> force voting dimahoo and ufo... that would be the best stgt

V-V was preferrable over Hishouzame and Batsugun special, had checkpoints and a huge no-miss end-of-game bonus (both things that MS doesn't have). Though I liked V-V (but haven't played as much as other people), it had (according to what I heard) an easy and long way before you could get to the stages that are worth more points, that people had to repeat a lot. (can agree partially that MS has this, except that there's enough variation in how much you score in each stage, by simple things like getting more point items, cancelling more bullets through boss/midboss takedowns, grazing. I can also partially agree that Yumeko may ruin people's runs, except that the penalty for bombing Yumeko or losing a few lives against her isn't as huge as people may think, compared to the total score.)

can't comment on CRS, except that I don't see how people will "regret having voted on MS as soon as they start playing" either, especially when I have played it for a while.

Personally I'd rather ESP Ra De (if there's no doujin week), at least it's not as memory-intensive as grocery shopping. No offense to people who like Dimahoo, though.

PCB owns I'd play that game and lose to everyone and not even care
Nnnot sure what makes Mystic Square the same as V-V though? Maybe people have at some point used similar terminology to describe aspects of each game but I seriously doubt they're doing it on purpose with the intent to equate them with each other. V-V was a stupidly long game with an egregious death penalty (lol there goes 50% of your score or more if you die anywhere ever!) mostly boring stages, pretty bad bossfights, and no scoring gimmicks other than 'touch diamonds' and 'milk these handful of specific enemies in 2-3 perfectly'. Mystic Square is not stupidly long, doesn't have boring stages (because there is scoring to do,) has good bossfights, and has an actual scoring system with things for you to consider and execute during the entire game. Also while it penalizes bombing and dying, doing so won't obliterate your run.

however your despatche so i'm sure you're mentally on another level altogether and i have failed to understand all things in the universe while composing this post (jk ilu despatche even if we disagree!)

Nope choosing MS

Guys if you don't like MS chances are if someone reskinned MS as a Cave game then you would love it to death because most people only hate Touhou because

If you've tried it before and you don't like it for a different reason, hat's off to you.

It's like how girls are fine doing manly things but if a man does something girly you have to throw every insult in the book at him. It's one-way bias. I can accept Cave and Touhou games just fine and if a child can be mature about this then surely older people can as well.

Because Yumeko is an amazingly fun boss. MS is way more forgiving too. You get bombs, you can instantly switch between movement speeds to suit the current situation and you can recover from deaths easier. And there are no checkpoints.

I guess it should have been expected that some overenthusiastic Touhou fans would eventually doom any chance Mystic Square might have had.

Or quite the opposite: Almost every team is going to vote something other than Mystic Square because anime girls should never shoot each other leave that to giant ships fighting Giant Ship No. 9002

Super Star Shooter. It'll mean somebody outside of the usual suspects will have a chance of a high placing. Also delicious touhou fan tears.
