Does this even have to be discussed? It's a game-breaking bug that makes the entire game a complete joke. Ban plz.

Even if this is an issue that can be reproduced on the pcb and not just MAME, I don't think we should allow it for the tournament.

So required .inps for any All to make sure they didn't use it?

I don't think that's really necessary.

You should all just embrace it like the Pink Sweets players have.

If it won't invalidate my score, I'll share the secret (when I find it)

Hi, I'm your local Pink Sweets expert for today. The infinite lives bug sucks. Your score is invalid. Don't be an asshat.

Good night.

stop lying to yourself and actually play the game

no miss in v v is important because of score; when you die it becomes harder to destroy specific enemies (this only means anything for score, and maybe the second loop) and you lose whatever bonus you had

Never the less, when the week's over I'd like to know how to pull that off.

Not getting involved in any more discussion about that stuff.

Don't know about anyone else but I'm usually too busy pumping the score item spawner to destroy the box on 1-3.

Totally. Ramming that thing with all your missile pods is worth quite a bit. :D

If this invincibility glitch you're experiencing persists across MAME restarts, it's probably dipshits (specifically, the one that's labeled "Test Switch"). Clear ./cfg/vfive.cfg and enjoy your newfound mortality.

Which button is the bomb?

FUCK THIS GAME

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

However, I have been practicing and making progress, so should be able to put in a respectable score.

Why should I reply? It's so obvious that all I'm doing by talking about what I think about this game is getting people annoyed.

I'm not convincing anyone so what is the point in arguing about it?

Can we please all just stop arguing and play some shmups now?

Personally I find that if I can get past the 3rd boss without getting blown to bits I can make it a good way into stage 4. Those ships that drop the mech guys who fly after you are a real pain I reckon!

pointblanking with missiles works like a charm, as long as they do not get "released" (destroy the ships before the dudes are deployed)

Try to learn this game without using savestates was the worst idea I've ever had.

I just wish this game wasn't so damn long. I don't think a no-miss is impossible, but to fuck up because you forgot which enemies come next just to have wasted like 30 minutes of your time can really get to you. :(

My sentiments exactly.

I'm currently baffled by the St4 boss' laser attack, anyone willing to share any advice on that one?

This is what us Touhou players call an "Icicle Fall" situation. (stand under the damn boss and hope it doesn't move down and ram you.)

"Do something dumb and pray that the boss doesn't do the other attack which will be 100% unavoidable in that position", sound advice.

That's actually the best way to manage that attack. The boss goes up a little bit before trying to ram you so you'll know when to move out of the way.

Thanks for that, Ruldra!

I can't see myself playing this again. At least with Psikyo games the difficulty ramps up quickly and if you screw up and have to restart you haven't wasted much time. This on the other hand, is just hours and hours of boredom with an occasional cheapshot. I don't hate it because it's not what I'm used to, it's just incredibly time-consuming and not very fun until the last few loop stages.

Didn't submit a score today because I got caught up buying cheap cookware and playing horrible games.

I think I'll probably come back to V-V in a few months after I've recovered from the inevitable STGT burnout.
