Could anyone post which virtual console shmups allow 2 players? (or perhaps some of which that do)

At the very least, since the last post, we've had Musha Aleste and Life Force...

"For 1-2 players". "Shooter". I just looked on the Wii shop channel for you mate.

Forgotten Worlds
Fantasy Zone
Galaga
Gradius
Gradius III
R-Type III The Third Lighting
Xevious

I hope this helps you. Happy gaming.

R-Type III has two-player mode, but all it really is is switching off when one player loses their ship. It's not co-op or anything like that.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Same for Gradius and Gradius III.

All of those except for Forgotten Worlds are 2 player alternating.

Here are some shmups on the VC that are 2 player co-op:
Bio Hazard Battle
Detana Twinbee
Life Force
Ordyne

Hi folks.

Sorry if I am bumping an old thread. Have had a quick search and can't find another thread listing Wii VC shoot 'em ups so I thought I would add some that are missing from this list (not sure if DJ Incompetent is still updating this thread)

I recently booted up my Wii for the first time in a while and immediately got hooked on Lords of Thunder :D My Wii might aswell be a TG-16 at the moment :S

Below is the list of EU (I'm in the UK) shooters that I am aware of and the system from which the version has been ported. Hope this is useful to some folks :)

Cybernoid - The Fighting Machine (C64)
Dragon Spirit (TG16)
Fantasy Zone (SMS)
Fantasy Zone 2 (SMS)
Forgotten Worlds (Megadrive)
Galaxy Force 2 (Megadrive)
Gaplus (Arcade)
Gate of Thunder (TG-16)
Lords of Thunder (TG-16)
Ironclad (Neo-Geo)
MUSHA (Megadrive)
Psychosis (TG-16)
Space Harrier (SMS + Arcade)
Space Harrier 2 (Megadrive)
Space Invaders-The Original Game (SNES)
Star Force (Arcade)
Super Air Zonk: Rockabilly Paradise (TG-16)
Super Fantasy Zone (Megadrive)
Super R-Type (SNES)
Super Thunder Blade (Megadrive)
Uridium (C64)
Zaxxon (Arcade)

It seems like VC has gone to 1-2 games a week now.

Where is Solvalou? Wiki lists it as an upcoming release here...

oh, comma, snap. Community participation. Thanks Edwards80. 1st post updated.
If people wanna sum up lists for the other regions I'll add them to first post.

Nintendo won't fix my busted Wii, so I'm seven ways of screwed.

Your list appears to be missing the following for North American releases as well:
Zanac

Axelay
Super R-Type

Gate of Thunder
Lords of Thunder
Gley Lancer
M.U.S.H.A.
Star Parodier
Cho Aniki
Gradius II: Gofer no Yabou

Gaplus
Star Force
Zaxxon

Maybe a few more.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

I just downloaded Pulstar on the JPN VC. Holy fucks!! this game is fun. I've never considered myself a fan of memorization heavy R-Type-type games but Pulstar just oozes style and atmosphere. More importantly it has that addictive quality that makes you want to give it "just one more try" even after countless deaths.

Eagerly awaiting the VC release of Blazing Star. I'd love to have these on MVS but the VC emulation sure is handy.
