Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
The problem I have isn't with noise really (seeing as how none of the RGB lines are going into my splitter), but rather some jitter located primarily in the top third of the screen where some of the lines will bob back and forth horizontally. I'm thinking that this jitter is a sync issue, so perhaps using pure sync to start with will work better.fagin wrote:Tranquilite,
I can't see why a pure sync signal over a cleaned composite video to sync signal, would provide a better picture?!
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Tried this with my SNES and the recorded video is silky smooth.... I'm using the Micomsoft SW and driver.Tranquilite wrote:I just got my Startech card, and I am happy to say that my homemade sync splitter works. However, video samples from my Super Famicom show that my video is a bit jittery, and there seems to be a bit of noise to boot. I may want to switch to using pure sync rather than composite video for my sync splitter to see of that clears things up at all.

How to select HD resolutions?

I tried changing to HDMI/Component from Device Setting but nothing else shows up.

Maybe you could try the Micomsoft driver and start the Video Keeper software once to select HD?GregI wrote:How to select HD resolutions?
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
I inputted 1280 and 720 and 59.94 manually and the PS3 came up. The card clears up the "green tint" I was experiencing on Intensity card. Very good quality. 1.34GB for 40 seconds of video though.... ouch (Huffyuv)

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Try Lagarith. It's based on HuffYUV, but gets better performance (Read: Especially on today's multicore processors), and slightly smaller files (in some cases).GregI wrote:I inputted 1280 and 720 and 59.94 manually and the PS3 came up. The capture and editing for this was done with Lagarith. I still have the original files if you want me to dump some frames for you to look at. I got according to my math about 3byte/minute but I was capturing a 60fps game so I wasn't dropping every other frame (Lagarith does have an option to strip identical frames, by the way)
http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html
64 bit installer installs both 32 and 64 bit versions on 64 bit machines, so fear not if you have a dumb capture card like mine that crashes Virtualdub64.
Edit:
Has anyone streamed using FMLE with this? I'd like to see output/know if the frame rate reduction option in FMLE works on this card. I know it crashes if I try to use it with my Avermedia card. That feature would be a pretty big sell to me.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Stripping identical frames would be nice. I have Lagarith already yeah. Will try it later and compare file sizes.
I can try FME if you want. You basically mean select the 59.94 source and encode at 29.97 right? I can't remember if the Intensity Pro had the same issue as the Aver card but all of these issues can be resolved with XSplit which I like 1000 times better than FME.

Yeah that's exactly what I want. As much as my viewers enjoy the fact that I stream at 60fps, Verizon doesn't like it as much. And really, for most of what I do stream, it just shows flashing when I get hit.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
What does this do? It was 0.500 as default and said 29.97 originally. Changing it seems to do nothing.

Lagarith offered slightly better compression (saved about 100mb) on same size of clip.

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Just got my card today, Video Keeper is working fine but ,can anyone tell me the settings for AmaRec? Trying to record Xbox 360, preview window works fine but when I try to record I get an error window that just says "acmStreamOpen".
Also, if I send Dolby Digital signal down the HDMI, does that prevent the audio from being captured?

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
I've never had problems with recording. My default for 360 is video to 1280x720 59.94fps, audio to 48.000 Hz on input tab and on the recording tab 60 (or 30) fps, Lagarith and uncompressed audio.BuckoA51 wrote:Just got my card today, Video Keeper is working fine but ,can anyone tell me the settings for AmaRec? Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Bucko, maybe the audio is being used in another program (eg video keeper and amarec running?)
blizzz, what settings have you set on the 360 for HDMI?
http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/gene ... 42687.aspx
According to this we should have Standard for both (since the HDMI on card is limited range) and then select the YPbPr 701 (I forget the exact number) setting for HD?

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Haven't really looked into the 360 options, on PS3 it's a simple Limited / Full RGB setting. 360 on Standard should be fine, Extended might be too dark. Output should be RGB or YCbCr since it's digital and not YPbPr.GregI wrote:Bucko, maybe the audio is being used in another program (eg video keeper and amarec running?)

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Thanks Blizz I had audio set to MP3 not uncompressed.
No the audio problem is as suspected, the card cannot decode Dolby Digital, set the Xbox to output 2ch LCPM and everything is okay. Since I game with a DD setup I'll look at getting an external decoder at some point.Bucko, maybe the audio is being used in another program (eg video keeper and amarec running?)

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
I am sure this is a dumb question but, all my 240p captures keep getting assigned an aspect ratio of 3:1 instead of 4:1. I can manually override this in most players but is there a way to fix it in the file?

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Here's a really really silly question that probably nobody here would be instantly equipped to answer, but it's worth a shot anyway.
Does this card gracefully handle a game that switches between 480i modes and 240p modes on the fly? (Read: Dance Dance Revolution Arcade games)
Not that I expect anyone here to have a System 573 to test on, but if someone does, give it a shot? (Or drag your card to an Arcade if you work at one that has DDR Extreme or older. Video out port on the back is a 1:1 copy of what goes into the monitor)

I'll try it later today or tomorrow on Pinball Illusions on the Amiga, that does that.

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Ok tried it, if the game changes from 240p/288p to 480i/576i then Videokeeper will instantly save the file and start a new one, other than that it's fine, you can always stitch the files together again in your editor later.

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Actually it is a problem when changing modes... or at least for arcade games as they many time require you to turn off the X-sync before getting a signal again
I don't know how other sync separators handle it (X-sync uses lm1881).

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
I'd be interested if anyone have a good DVD recorder to try composite/s-video input and then output component to the card?
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
I encountered no such problem with the Sync Strike.Actually it is a problem when changing modes... or at least for arcade games as they many time require you to turn off the X-sync before getting a signal again
Not sure I follow, you want to transcode S-Video to component and try to capture that?I'd be interested if anyone have a good DVD recorder to try composite/s-video input and then output component to the card?

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Pretty much yeah. The DVD recorder should handle it all good. The only issue could potentially be wrong colours at 240p when captured with component as mentioned earlier.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
If you're in Europe and get a DVD recorder, they'll have RGBs output as well.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Just tried the Lagarith codec with AmaRec and the resulting file just crashes Zoomplayer or Windows Media player instantly when played (fault module name avcodec-lav-54.dll), any settings I should change to fix this? Tried playback on 2 pc's and it crashes the same on either.

What codec pack are you using? Recommended is always the CCCP.BuckoA51 wrote:Just tried the Lagarith codec with AmaRec and the resulting file just crashes Zoomplayer or Windows Media player instantly when played (fault module name avcodec-lav-54.dll), any settings I should change to fix this? Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
oh jesus, why would anyone install a codec pack like cccp which installs dozens of useless codecs ? Install the ones you need and be fine with it!
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Not using any codec packs, also not a fan of them, just have what Zoom Player installs for basic playback.
