Xbox 360 Going 2D crazy in Japan,Treasure,Cave,Alfa System

Post by ThirdStrike »

According to www.insertcredit.com the Xbox 360 is going 2d crazy

CONFIRMED GAME LIST:

http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... 24502.html

More news at 1up.com:

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143772

Today's Microsoft press conference about its new system, the Xbox 360, has revealed that many of the Japanese companies are doing games for the machine. Most are familiar with the big names: some of the smaller, more 2D focused developers working on the system include Treasure (new shooting game coming), Arc System Works (new melee fighting game), Cave Online, Idea Factory (Spectral Force 3, among others), SNK Playmore (Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum), Moss (new shooting game) and Alfa System.

My guess is:

Treasure : Project RS 3
Moss: Raiden 3 or Raiden Fighters Sequel
Arc System works : Guilty Gear Online Sequel
G.Rev : Senko No Ronde
Cave online : Tank Game, Espgaluda 2, Ibara
Playmore : Neo Geo Battle, KOF XI , Kof MI 2
Alfa System : Shikigami no Shiro 3

If this support actually happens there is a strong chance the Xbox 360 can succeed in Japan especially with the Arcade gamers.

umm I don't see Treasure on that list. They wouldn't make an Arcade game for a console anyway.

This is impressive. I mean, how many shmups does the XBox have, about 3? This report suggests that more than that are already planned for the 360. That would be a big chunk of change, though, to import a 360+games.

Which are the Shmups for the X-Box?
I only know Shikigami No Shiro 1 & 2 if I'm not mistaken?
Which is the 3rd one?

I thought Raiden III & Shikigami No SHiro were coming for the PS-2?...

The following Shmups came out on XBOX

Shikigami No Shiro
Shikigami No Shiro Evolution
Shikigami No Shiro 2
Psyvariar 2 Extended Edition

So basically 4 seperate Shmup releases in Japan on Xbox

Hmm, I'm slightly confused about the whole Cave thing :?

I thought the Cave we know and love was just "Cave", not "Cave Online". I'm slightly sceptical about Cave being onboard, but I really hope they are :)

If Cave are truly on board then Espgaluda 2 is practically guaranteed, I'd love to see Ketsui too :D

Well, don't expect too much...according to "Magic Box" Treasure is planning to develop a sequel to "Sin & Punishment" which probably means 2D gameplay but 3D graphics. Although I do believe that RS3 will happen sooner or later because so many fans are waiting for it and Treasure knows this.

I think Cave Online is a subsidiary of Cave. There's a link to Cave Online from the Cave website.

Cave Online is a seperate company formed for the 'online gaming' market. It's not wholly owned by Cave either, but I think it's 90% Cave owned at least. Honestly I'd be a bit leery of reading into this regarding any future game ports, as the 'arcade' side of Cave seems fairly content to let other people port their stuff.

Shikigami No Shiro Evolution is a Remix of Shikigami no shiro with a few more options and changed bullet patterns. Also i think it has a Anime opening not found in the Original version.

Isn't there separate Red and Blue versions of Shikigami No Shiro Evolution with different extras?

That would make 5 different X-Box shmup releases then. ^^

Here you go folks, this is proof right here just HOW shitty Magic Box is and that they should NEVER be trusted.

We Start HERE...
GI: Is there any chance we’ll see a sequel to Sin and Punishment?

Maegawa: We are considering it. We are very proud of the quality of that game, that’s why we’re thinking about it.

GI: We were both disappointed that that game never made it over to North America, because we both imported it and loved it, so that’s very good news!

Maegawa: We had finished the localization of the Nintendo 64 version, too. But still, it didn’t get released.

GI: [Billy] I’ll have to talk to some people over there. (laughs)

Maegawa: If we’re going to work on a Sin and Punishment sequel, the game has to be sold in America too. So if the fans want it they should make some noise. (laughs)
AND Magic Box comes out with this load of shit based upon that.
- Treasures is planning to develop a sequel to the hit Nintendo 64 title Sin & Punishment, the company is pleased with the quality of the game.

Yes they are ports of Arcade games. Treasure is first concerned with the game as an Arcade title. If it does bad there, then there is no hope of a port. They would NEVER announce an Arcade title to console first. That is ass backwards.

Thanks for the info regarding Cave Online :)

I found the link on Cave's site just now, and the only info that I can find there is about a MMORPG, it would seem that their focus is entirely different to the Cave that develops shmups. Don't get too excited guys...

If we see any Cave stuff on the 360 it'll be from Arika or Taito imo.

As I understand it, there is:

Shikigami no Shiro
Shikigami no Shiro Evolution
Shikigami no Shiro Red
Shikigami no Shiro Blue
Shikigami no Shiro Rainbow

I was counting these all as one when I suggested that there are 3 shmups on XBox. Counting each separately, I suppose there are 7 altogether.

^^^I've been working too hard lately, so maybe I'm imagining things. I seem to recall seeing a Rainbow edition of SnS for XBox on EBay not too long ago. Now I'm really doubting myself. If I find it, I'll post a link.

Found a Rainbow Cover edition of Shikigami no Shiro Evolution at Play-Asia:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-3l-70-1uw.html

Why couldn't they have had all these special editions for SnS II!?

"Rainbow" is what "Red" is referred to at Play Asia.

And you can't count just SnS Evolution as a third entry.

After some more research I can definitively say that these are the SnS games on XBox:

- Shikigami No Shiro
- Shikigami No Shiro Evolution Red
- Shikigami No Shiro Evolution Blue
- Shikigami No Shiro II

So with Psyvariar II that makes 5 shmups on XBox. Soon to be 6 when Xyanide is released.

It won't be surprising to see a lot more arcade ports to the 360, even from japan, seen as how more and more, arcade hardware is starting to look more and more like a PC. For instance, the Taito Type X. Since the 360 is designed with PC ports in mind (more or less), this is a boon to programmers developing for PC based arcade hardware. But I still don't want that ugly 360 in my house, damnit. Rather just buy the arc. hardware :D

Yeah, I looked into it some more myself, and you have to be right, Seven Force. Five, soon to be six, shmups on Xbox, provided you don't count all the crap shmups available on Xbox Live Arcade.

Great news, but, again, how many of these games would even make it to the US market?? If it's most or all, then I'll start getting pumped.
