Roughly similar. Some parts are better, some are worse. Expect stupid deaths in the latter half of stage 3, the latter half of stage 4, and every time you get Trace options when you wanted Formation.

Just a friendly reminder that we typically keep all order status discussion to the dedicated pre-order thread: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 76#p800476

I mean, I'd be really surprised if they weren't thinking along those lines. Cave, themselves, haven't done any individual releases for one of their older games yet... so when debating whether to release Mushihime or Ibara, they probably went with Mushihime because they can estimate sales a little better given how Futari did. So if this does well... maybe Cave'll be like "oh, there's still interest on 360, even for older games," and will then wise the hell up and give us Ibara goddammit.

I hope.

That SE cover somehow looks a lot better than I initially thought it did. Ah well. The LE looks gorgeous, though it'll be a weird standout among my entirely-SE Cave 360 catalog.

By now I'm pretty much convinced doing 1.5 as a first print bonus rather than an on-disc mode is indeed a very smart—if a bit dickish—move by Cave. Not only it secures a solid amount of income right away and does so at a default retail price (forestalling a possible price drop or a reprint), but also limits the second-hand market by at least an order of magnitude since people would rather prefer a game with unredeemed DLC. I'd guess doing it as a preorder bonus would—albeit just slightly—be even more successful.

Then again, something like this could only work for a mode that wasn't madly popular to begin with, unlike Futari BL, DeathSmiles MBL, or DFK BL which even warranted a standalone release. Now that I think of it, only Mushi 1.5 comes to mind as a good candidate for this strategy. It's not favorable for us customers, though, since those who have missed the train will have to do without 1.5.

How does it compare to the PCB in terms of slowdown?

Comes with Novice, 360 and arranged. No original arcade graphics mode. No attract screen, just sits at the title menu. You can enter initals. Tate works fine, no scanlines options only smoothing on/off, zoom, x/y position. Arranged music is killer. I really like the patterns on arranged mode but don't have a clue on the scoring. Well, that's why it's called HD. If I want to play it in original res, I can use MAME and my ArcadeVGA. Did you say anything about slowdowns? I've watched some videos and most of the terrible slowdowns that make some stages in the PS2 conversion totally unplayable are gone. I hope this version is completelly free of slowdows. I hate them.

Can you set the other modes' soundtrack to 1.5 if you have the DLC?

Can you do that if you don't? (I doubt it obviously but I figure it's worth asking)

They went through that on the stream the other day and afaik they didn't have the dlc on the console they showed, and 1.5 didn't appear in the sound settings thing (only normal and arrange).

Thanks! Sounds like a nice port, too bad they skipped the attract mode though. I can see myself playing this for months. :D

awesome picture
Totally wanting someone to up a run of Stage 4 on this. That stage probably has the most to gain from the HD treatment I reckon - it already looked excellent originally.

I have already sent a messege to Rising Star Games, asking if they have considered bringing this to Europe. I think well all should do the same. Maybe showing our interest in the game could make it happen.

Given RSG's new American branch, I think we should be asking them to bring it to the world.

So strangely enough it looks like this is region locked----can anyone confirm or deny what Play-Asia has listed? Will this work on an US PS3?

Microsoft Japan doesn't allow region free releases from Japan anymore. It's up to Rising Star to bring it everywhere else.

I hate slowdowns as much as the next guy, but that's irrelevant; there really should be at least one mode in here that reproduces the original version as best as possible. The "it's called HD" thing is a bit silly, because it's not called that at all! I'm not even sure why we're still using that.

Why does anyone care if the original graphics are there? The system can't even muster 240p. Just set your console to 480p and slap a slg 3000 on the other end. It looks proper that way, I promise.

I'm a huse stickler to scanlines ect but I can't stand the way these ports look with no scanlines and upscaled. It's horrible looking compared to their HD treatments. Unless like I said you bump it down to 480p and add scanlines.

Futari being the exception.

Wait.. I'm confused. Are you complaining about the graphics or that they emulated the slowdown?!
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

So what do you guys think, should I play this on my 27" standard def Tate CRT, or 30" widescreen HDTV in yoko which produces a 17" vertical play field iirc...
