So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
I wonder what the chances are of Cave striking a deal with Konami to make Gradius VI. I can't help but think it would end up on iPhone though.
Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
IMO a big problem with Cave is the many of their games are just unavailable in most places outside of Japan, even in download form.
Nintendo (of America) put up untranslated foreign games on their online service back when that service was active -- shooting games don't really revolve around text, so you don't really need any localization for them.
Microsoft may have their own rules regarding that, though.
Also, the big influence of retailers and publishing companies nowadays would probably prevent any of their games from reaching retail, as they have no brand recognition and hence minimal sales. That is probably why Aksys bolted on them after Deathsmiles.

Chances are it'd end up as another casino slot machine.Annoyboy wrote:I wonder what the chances are of Cave striking a deal with Konami to make Gradius VI. I can't help but think it would end up on iPhone though.

Calling Pachinko "casino" makes it sound much less squalid than it actually is.Seahawk wrote:Chances are it'd end up as another casino slot machine.Annoyboy wrote:I wonder what the chances are of Cave striking a deal with Konami to make Gradius VI. Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
In my dreams, CAVE, Yotsubane, and the (possibly already dead) Milestone collaborate on a game.
Hey, if people are posting their ridiculous "I want CAVE to do this and that" stuff, I might as well throw my lot in.

Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
milestone doesn't mesh very well, they'd be better with treasure. try some more doujin cave cloners like x.x and temperance lance
Rage Pro, Rage Fury, Rage MAXX!
Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
I personally wouldn't have minded the Vita shmup. At the least, it has a usable D-pad (compared to the PSP-1k's anyway) and other tangible controls; I'm tired of CAVE mostly just making touchshmups. Kinda sad to see it not performing well, especially since, at the least, it's not region-locked like the 3DS.
At this point shmups are slowly turning into something more for indie devs than corporate ones. Who wants to try to make profit in an industry where any game without cinematic visuals or >10 hours of gameplay will be seen as bargin bin ware at best?

Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
i'm sorry but that happened back in 2000 or before and it wasn't slow in the slightest
most of the efforts we've gotten since then are either actual indie or near-indie efforts (milestone, skonec, indies themselves) or what the indies should be doing (cave, raizing)
edit: i'm not even seeing the difference, i'm sorry

It's got crazy production value behind it as well as more CG video work than was ever put into any actual gameEd Oscuro wrote:Calling Pachinko "casino" makes it sound much less squalid than it actually is.

Cave really should consider getting into the lucrative pachislot business as a means of generating income to support their game development. It's what helps keep SNK and Sega afloat.

I can see it now; the only way to get a payout is to win a whole bunch of times in a row. Otherwise, you drop your chain and get nothing.Cuilan wrote:Cave really should consider getting into the lucrative pachislot business as a means of generating income to support their game development. Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
Would anyone be able to confirm the speculation from this piece that Cave's stock drop is directly related to that of GREE thanks to that anti-gambling-ish legislation? Supposedly Cave got a hunk of money from GREE, but I don't know nearly enough about the business end of things to know if that's true...if so it's definitely a shame that something so far removed from the games the company is most famous for could end up reshaping them so dramatically.
Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
It's had an impact, but they were already on the decline for awhile now.

Much of this was due to speculation from the social bubble that their GREE/Mobage hit "Shirotsuku" would open the door to heavy income from social games.

Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
So my speculation from yesterday was at least partially right, eh?
Even without the threat of the "social game micro-transaction" bubble bursting, Cave would be in much better shape right now had there been greater communication between upper management and the project leads. It's as if the higher-ups didn't care about what the rest of the company was doing.

Can't Cave at least beg for sales like when Triangle Service was about to go under?
Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
It amazes me that triangle service is still around...

Cave have taken a chapter out of Sega's book. Its fading, I can hardly see the light anymore.. .... .... . . ..
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
Nah, they didn't vomit all over their #1 series and shove out turd after turd based on it.neorichieb1971 wrote:Cave have taken a chapter out of Sega's book. Its fading, I can hardly see the light anymore.. .... .... . . ..

Triangle Service is just one guy keeping up with his Go Daddy Domain name costs every year!!!Op Intensify wrote:Can't Cave at least beg for sales like when Triangle Service was about to go under?
Now they need to make Nexzeal and beg everyone to buy that!
A Hardcore gamers reaction to the Lack of Kinect games. Apparently i could of played Dodonpachi with it if i beat a entirely in Japanese Visual Novel piece of shit game called Instant Brain
Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
I just looked up Nexzeal to see if it was real

Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
Thats what happens when a Shmup company starts doing non-Shmups games.

Re: So Cave cancelled their Vita shooter.
I feel the quality of their games has dropped, since DS.
The new DDP looks good, but the designs bring it down. Shame.

This too. I mean, if they were able to make GOOD games in other genres, that would be a different story. But it's obvious that they don't have the chops for anything but shmups.KAI wrote:Thats what happens when a Shmup company starts doing non-Shmups games.

We shoul blame 5pb and their fucking Visual Novels who inspired cave to do Instant Brain.
