There are a few 60fps clips up on nico. They look great!

Goddamn I laughed hard at 6:05 when he tries to destroy the upper big building first, and then the lower one for hyper charging stars but...
He got only one star from the upper building :lol:
EDIT: Damn that stage 3 midboss is hard to kill.. :?
EDIT2: If you understand shmup-humor, you most likely have no friends.
How do I watch this video?

I've had an account for years, though unless they changed things the registration form might still be in Japanese.

Uploaded the nicovideo ones here and here. I find the site so slow, and people can see updates easier on youtube.
(and there are lazy people who won't create an account on nicodouga)

Doesn't seem like we're gonna find out if there's a loop anytime soon when even the high-end scoring vids are still using autobomb and struggling with survival.

They've changed the registration form. Elixir mentioned it some time ago and I signed up for an account with mostly English text all the way through.

Where do I sign the petition for HFD to start playing this game?

My local arcade has a top score of 9.8 billion with the A-S. While I didn't see that run, I'm pretty sure I saw the guy who set it because he got a superb score without a clear also with the A-S. For some reason he suicided at the start of stage 4...

My score is still at 2.4b, but I'm just aiming for a clear.

I would guess early-stage suicides would be for rank control, although it's not very substantial (seems to only cut a few ranks?) and the 1billion per ship end-game bonus is clearly way too good in the current stage of this game to throw away on purpose like that.

I just noticed that actually holding the chain is more important than I originally thought. In the C-L vid, near the end of stage 3, the guy drops his chain for an extremely brief moment while not hypering. This makes his chain value drop from 2.4M to 1.7M and drops the hit count pretty significantly too.

This pleases me.

Yeah, dropping your chain reduces your hit count and GP bonus by 30%. I like this because it still punishes the player for screwing up without destroying their scoring potential for the rest of the stage, like in DOJ.

Exactly my thoughts. You can still have a decent score if you screw up a couple times, or if you're just exceptionally good at survival. The latter did work to some extent in DDP and DOJ but definitely not in DFK for instance.

Some more delicious S/L-style game breakage: http://www.nicozon.net/watch/sm17656088

Includes:
— a survival trick to trivialize stage 3 midboss using a bomb (might even be useful in mid-tier score runs if you decide to spend all of your hypers on stage 2);
— a complete strategy for easy and efficient quick kill of stage 3 boss using safespots and pointblanking;
— a demonstration of quick stage 4 midboss kill;
— a safe stage 4 boss safespot demonstration.

So, for the people who have played it, what's the bottom line?

- What skill set do you require to enjoy the game? I don't mean get to stage 3 and die. I mean, how much experience is required to actually play the game. Maybe list a few games that are on the same level.

- Are you happy with your purchase? Not, "are you happy you added a game to your collection?", but do you really enjoy the game and feel it is a solid title?

- Where does this game rank in your Cave top 5? What is your Cave top 5?

I'm trying to get as much info as I can before I pull the trigger. I'm not just gonna buy the game without getting as much info as I can.

Thanks fellas.

If you pick all the bees in the game your hypers are replenished up to 6 in stage 5. I'm uploading the last part right now.

That bit in stage5 where the player gets six hypers at once?
It has nothing to do with the bee medals, I'm afraid. The player just carefully timed a large enemy kill to create lots of large star items just as a hyper ran out. It's worth up to +6 to hyper level for Shot and Laser types, but probably an easy +10 to hyper level for Expert. A player with a good sense of timing could easily exploit this in a variety of places throughout the game - off midbosses and various boss forms, st3 cannon buildings (the ones that null all on-screen bullets), st5 large enemies etc - for quick and dirty hyper level boosts.
The last bee in stage5 was taken at the very end of the stage, and like all the x2 bees, it only adds +1 to the hyper level.

Anything is enjoyable with a vintage cigar.

It also changes back to the normal boss theme once the boss takes enough damage and changes to his mobile form - just like in DOJ

Pretty much everything Manabu Namiki has made in the recent 7-8 years is a remix or a rehash of his earlier work or somebody else's earlier work. I'm sure at one point I had compiled a list with all the references and similarities between his tracks.

Feels like it's somewhere in the ESPGaluda II/Futari Maniac difficulty (survival, not scoring) range. As there is very little bullet cancelling, it gets back to Cave's core: dodging. The autobomb feature isn't nearly as game-wrecking as it is in DFK, so that's super awesome. I've not been playing shooting games for well over a year now, other than the occasional credit. I still got to just before the stage 4 midboss though on my 3rd credit ever. So, using bombs and not letting autobomb do everything, you can get far.

Didn't purchase the game. If I was in the market to, I would though.

Way to early to rank it, but other than the theme, I think Cave really hit the nail on the head with this one. Honestly, it's what DFK should have been.
