It's intentional in the sense that the game design allows the hardware to be overloaded. If they wanted, they could simplify the levels, or reconfigure the video hardware to remove the most expensive graphics effects etc.

Oh god, the dodging on stage 3! Damn, this mode really pushes the Japanese to their limits. Stage 4 is some absurd Pink Sweets shit. This game is, without a single doubt, very hard. If even stage 4 midboss shits on you with TLB-worthy attacks, I can only imagine what Hibachi will look like in this game.

For comparison, SIN, a top japanese player scores 5,2B on shot mode : http://sinmoon.blog.shinobi.jp/
So Expert is twice harder scoring wise. That's good to know.

Nice see the players using auto bombs to training. I think auto bombs the best idea ever.
In this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqmnlIHD ... el&list=UL the stage 2 end bonus was huge!
Huge end stage bonus like Akai Kanata no please.

Since when are safe spots a mistake? ESPGaluda II's final boss has a safe spot on the 2nd to last form.

About time I got my own in-game element.

It's hit count x 20000, so a 10k hit chain is worth 200 million, not even half the score to be gathered in the stage itself, but a sizable amount nonetheless. I guess it's the main incentive to keep your chain through the boss.

People were worried the scoring would be easy in this game, but, while forgiving to an extent, it's very much tied to no-miss/no-bomb survival which isn't really easy. You can notice how boss patterns speed up as hypers are activated... nasty shit. I'd say it's a perfect balance for a Pachi game. Getting a high score in this game will involve making it progressively harder at every opportunity, and having perfect survival while at it.

For me a safe spot in a shooting game, except for Touhou because I think ZUN develops them for scoring purpose, is considered as a mistake because developers didn't think players could overcome the game easily. There is a also a safe spot on the 5th boss of DDP, last form of Hibachi in DDP DFK. The goal in a shooting game is to suffer and beat the game, not to "cheat" (that's my opinion).

The DDP Stage 5 boss one is probably intended. If they didn't want that to be an option, they could have easily made that part have a collision hitbox.

And the Hibachi safespot was patched. And the DFK BL safespots on Hibachi were probably intended.

this difficulty looks quite manageable i think.. for those of you who speak japanese, the in-game commentator keeps saying something ending in what sounds like "counterstoppu" when a hyper is activated, what does she say?

"Kidou". In context it can mean startup or activate/activation, so "Hyper system, activate".

I finally triggered the second extend today and made it to the end of stage 5. I like having to work for this.

btw, hardest 1up to trigger in any Cave game, bar none, especially with the auto-bomb.

"Started counting (the time) until system (reaches a) critical point"

Shisutemu rinkaiten made kaunto sutaato.

System as in ship, critical as in temperature. Basically they can't use hypers endlessly (tell that to DOJBLEX X-mode) or the ship overheats.

I would have thought that using ten hypers at once would do more damage to the ship's systems than using one hyper for longer than usual…

good ear man, thanx!

would be cool if the announcer was actually yelling relevant info tho, like "hyper level 2 ready" instead of just "haiper leddy" 3 times in a row or maybe "bomb stock depleted" once you use your last bomb.. ofcourse the best would be to have no yelling at all but that seems a thing of the past, atleast there arent any overly squeaky voices or any of that shit..

C-L ~5.5bil ALL. I don't think I've seen this uploaded anywhere yet. Password is ddp, credits to unknown poster on 2ch again.

Code: Select all

No queues.
Very impressive run. The player plays safe, but shows insane dodging skills when left with no resources. He got X2 bees in three stages (one of them being Stage 4!) but the game did not loop (or was probably cut right before the loop screen). Also, Rank 15 in S5.

Goddamn I laughed hard at 6:05 when he tries to destroy the upper big building first, and then the lower one for hyper charging stars but...
He got only one star from the upper building
EDIT: Damn that stage 3 midboss is hard to kill.. :?
EDIT2: If you understand shmup-humor, you most likely have no friends.
How do I watch this video?

Pinkdonpachi Sweetsoujou.
I can't really see much difference between low hyper rank and high hyper rank at present, besides a few extra bullets and patterns thrown in, and a slight increase in bullet speed. It does look like there's a cap on how high hyper rank can be increased each time a hyper is activated though, with the highest amount being +5 to rank by the look of it (so no Rank 99 possible, awww). I think the actual calculation is (hyper level / 2) then rounded up, so a lv7 hyper is +4 to rank, for example.
