Sorry for the necro, but I've just completed and reviewed Graces f. Overall I enjoyed this more than Xillia, but would have enjoyed the more mature Xillia if perhaps it wasn't so rough around the edges. Dodging and focusing on defending makes for an interesting battle system, and the title system means I'll probably go back to it. Honestly Xillia's constant bantering about ideology and cultural issues got stale, but I thought the Lillial System was cool at the time (before XIII-2 outdated it). Graces f's story is better, but revolves around friendship, which isn't very imaginative. I also reviewed Xillia quite some time ago.

Then again, Graces f was already an upgraded port from a previously released Wii exclusive, giving Namco Bandai a window of opportunity to try again. I half expect them to do the same with Xillia, since Vesperia and Graces went through the same treatment.

Concerning this - I caved and bought the Japanese version, since it's obviously not being localized. I still hold Vesperia in high regard and would easily recommend that over both Xillia and Graces, even if Vesperia takes ages to get into the core story.

the story in tales of graces f is pretty bad. there's nearly no development in the important parts for about 80% of the game, then near the end it throws some really corny exposition at you and then the game ends.

the battle system with all its titles pretty much makes up for this though.

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

I say ToS2 didn't sell because they didn't market it in the slightest.

They're really trying to avoid that with Tales of Graces F though, which I saw posters for plastered all over every GameStop for ages [and the only reason I know this is because I went to 6 or 7 of them trying to get Tales of the Abyss 3D, and all but 1 were out of stock].
I kind of wish the Wii version of ToG came over here though, my lack of a PS3 is bothersome.

Also, Tales games all go on about friendship. Got stale 10 years ago. At least the games are fun enough for you to almost not give a damn. Almost.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
