Tales of Graces F localization + ??? (Dark Souls and ACV)

Post by Elixir »

There was a puzzle on Namco-Bandai's Facebook, and deciphering it gives you http://ataleoftworichards.com/.

The first image which appeared on the website was this:

Image

This was pretty much deciphered within hours. It's an inverted and warped Tales of Graces F logo.

Image

Image

Second image revealed absolutely nothing else, except for an even blurrier image, as if to say that they weren't happy about people figuring it out so early.

Image

Third image turns into a complete mess, appears a few days later. This time with Pacman ghosts to the bottom right.

Image

Fourth image is the same, but reveals an announcement (?) date of 2.2.2011!

Image

Fifth image clearly has a T in the same fashion as Tekken, probably adding Tekken Tag Tournament 2 to their release list.

Image

Sixth image has Galaga ships to the middle right, and one to the bottom left. Probably some Galaga revision.

Image

Seventh image. Apparently references Pac-Man Party. Thanks BM!

Image

Eighth image, clearly has a Tales of Vesperia logo within. Will both Tales Of PS3 games be localized?!

Image

Although everyone is probably looking at the mid-left Tales writing, even the far right Katakana matches up with the image.

Image

Top half is an inverted piece of the writing in peach.png, bottom half is taken from the official logo. "Tales of Ves" (テイルズオブヴェス) is visible.

Great, now I have to buy a PS3 to get it since they won't be localizing the Wii version...

Now I feel slightly better about being a PS3 owner.

Great news. Another RPG to play on the PS3 other than Demon Souls can only be a good thing. Does anybody have impressions of the import version? How does it stack up to the likes of Vesperia or Abyss?

That's cool, I wish they would localize the PS3 version of Vesperia too.

You know, I really thought Namco had decided to never localize another Tales game.

Namco is really fucking weird when it comes to localizing Tales games. There's just no consistent way to tell if they'll localize a game or not.

I'm not a big Tales fan, but I always feel bad for their beleaguered community. And I do have a PS3. I may give it a shot.

The main site was updated.. it's even blurrier now, despite how everyone already knows what it is.

This is good news. I'm playing through the JP version of this right now, and it's definitely a great game. I hope it finds a decent size audience - it deserves it.

Tales took over from FF as my favorite long-running JRPG series after FF XIII and DQ IX were a little lackluster. I enjoyed both still (yes, I actually enjoyed FF XIII)... but I digress.

It changed twice while I was asleep.

And currently (at the time of posting):

Image

Looks like they're going to announce what it is on the 2nd of February, if 2.2.2011 is to be believed.

Oh and there's pacman ghosts to the bottom right. There's no way it isn't Graces F though.

I have fiddled around with this on Wii, but haven't done much, because of the language barrier. I was just wondering if it has as many cutscenes as Vesperia? I absolutely despised the amount it had. Is it closer to Symphonia level?

First Pacman, now Galaga.

Definitely some sort of collection/updated version collection.
Somewhat optimistic.

Also, Elixer, you might want to change the thread title.

With what? We have no way of knowing if the assorted Namco references are red herrings or actually mean something at this point.

Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't ToGF to be honest. I think NB gave the series a last try over here with ToS2, and that probably didn't sell well at all, so (I blame shitty NTSC cover art). Also, the picture that's up there now doesn't look anything like the ToGF logo, they probably just edited the picture to avoid giving us further false hopes.

I do think it's ToGF, though. I'm just being overly cautious here.

There's absolutely no way that any large company would purposefully piss off its fanbase like that. Of course it's Tales of Graces.

Well, Nintendo's been doing doing pretty much exactly that for over a year now with Monado/Xenoblade. It's been officially on the NA release list the entire time with a release of TBA, but we all know it's not coming. And that's a shame, because it's considered by many to be the best RPG of this generation.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Vesperia as well since apparently they had localized a good portion of it and then...fired the localization team.

"Tales of Ves" is visible. You can't really see anything beyond ス, but it's enough confirmation for me.

Sadly no Vesperia. Namco blatantly lied, adding Vesperia's logo into the mix and then proceeding to not announce it. I'm very disappointed.

I'll still check out Graces though.

Armored Core V and Dark Souls (Demon's Souls' sequel) has also been announced.
