I wanna know that from other than Japanese player.
I think it's great and very unique and a big part of the game. there are a lot of memorable songs, amazing it was made by one guy. My favorite is The Way of All Flesh (Extra 2)

Thanks for the translating work everyone :)

You get to like it as they are part of the game... bit by bit...

But i think that, at least in my case, as the music was a part of the message of an story that I can't know, i made it the center of the game.

I got the music game rip and hear the music of the game a lot when i0m on the metro or in my house. As I stated bedore, it helps me get some parts of the story and theorisize about it.

I've been listening to a lot of psytrance lately (サイケトランス)and I find it hard to distinguish between HELLSINKER's soundtrack and professionally made stuff. So it's damn good.

Something strange I just found out. You know the enemies in Stage 2 Lead that shoot destructible bullets, and when you blow them up they release drones which give you hearts?

Look at the enemy text for them. It says Apostles of the Seed. I'm not kidding. I think this might be a glitch, but...

Also, I'd love to watch Riro's WR replay of the game, but it keeps desyncing. I've heard there's a patch that you can apply to the game but I don't know how to do it. Anyone willing to help?

Hey everyone. Sorry about being absent for a while and letting the wiki get vandalized. I've put a captcha system in place so that doesn't happen anymore.

shinimai your input is amazing. Thank you very much for posting here.

I will begin editing articles to reflect the information you've given us here.

shinimai, Hellsinker's music is amazing. There's a point I'm still unclear on. Is it true that Ranyon and Tonnor (http://twitter.com/#!/tonnyoriclayer/ ) are the same person, and that he did the music, art, story and programming for Hellsinker, or did someone else help him?

"Liarnose" also contributed some content I think.

I can't find the replays. They used to be on hellsinker.net/hsscoreboard, but that site seems to be down. I might go on the Hellsinker thread on 2ch and ask them about it.

Yes! (Hi)Ranyon who creates Hellsinker. and Radiozonde is Tonnor.
http://twitter.com/#!/tonnyoriclayer/
http://soundcloud.com/tonnor

You see his artworks, paintings, music on these web sites.
And He did almost works of his games, a multifaceted person.

Now it is said that he creates a RPG.
But very slowly.

If you are interested in his artwork, go to these site.

So he left us what is considered one of the best and most complex doujin STGs around and now he's making RPGs? Oh my.

I hope one day he comes back to STGs. Hellsinker needs a spiritual successor! (I know, I know, the Akashicverse pays homage to Hellsinker in many ways)

To conclude, Hellsinker music is freaking awesome and I really like the synchrony applied to most of the Segments! It's far more enjoyable than the constantly looping music in RPGs...

Hellsinker's music is pretty awesome, some of the best I've heard in a game... but then I'm the sort of person who plays games for their music, see Touhou and IIDX :| (But it is so refreshing when you usually play fighting games and their usual bland fare of music...)

OMW!!!! I just visited the Shrine Of Farewell and then met Perpetual Calendar for the first time!
Now I get it, now I understand why Hellsinker is awed and revered. Simply the greatest- no contest :D

I remember when I first fought the infamous Perpetual Calendar. I totally thought that HAD to be the final boss, it was so brutal and awesome. Then, bam, there where three more stages after that, hahahaha! Man, what an awesome game. It has layers and layers of mysterious and crazy stuff, branching paths, a campaign that flow according to the way you play.

They can try all the procedurally generated shit they want, I would rather take this approach: a set amount of stages with a flow that gets altered according to the way you play, but always knowing the bosses and stuff you are going to face. The better you play, the harder it gets, the greater enemy waves you unlock, the crazier things get.

I have a question for shinimai... On Hiranyon's site, in an old version from archive.org, I found a link to a .zip file. If I read it correctly, was a zip file of all of the tracks for Radio Zonde in .mod format.

http://web.archive.org/web/200406101948 ... me/ranyon/ <- here is an archive.org link to the page that had this file. This page also contains a lot of other stuff of huge interest to this thread.

The link was taken down some time in 2005, and neither archive.org nor the original site still have it. Does this file still exist somewhere, being traded between people on the Japanese internet? Would you be able to help us find it?

Can anyone send me the music from hellsinker or know where to find a link for a download? The only link I could find was from megaupload... Obviously that's not happening, haha.

You can just Video2mp3 it from YouTube, or rip directly from game files with some tools

Can anyone think of any way to improve the HS wiki? I'm thinking there needs to be a better landing page but I can't really think of how it should be laid out.

As for the music, I just extracted the .ogg files from the game directly. They aren't encrypted or compressed or anything.

These link to Mod and MP3 file. Maybe Radiozonde.
These files unfortunately are unconsecrated in Japanese fan communities. His 2D fighting game Dogma too...
Hiranyon is fickle, so he often delete files and upload pictures in twipic and music file.
His texts and pictures, music are very interesting, so you follow his twitter account.

Sorry I couldn't help you.

This game needs an English patch so badly. I wish someone like Nyu Media would localize it.

The place to start would be the HTM manual. This would instantly make it a more accessible game in the West.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

You bet it, but even here, it seems like nobody cares about our grief over not being an english patch or translation of the manual.

I regularly check the wikia, but the work is so slow there. Well, I can't complain since I can't contribute

The main problem is the translation of the text. The game was made with a game maker so it should be easy to modify it (a friend told me that).

Only one or 2 people who wants to translate from japanese to ranyonese and then to english. But no one wants to do it (T-T)

I've tried on several different occasions to get translators interested in helping to translate it, but they seem to get frustrated after a little while and they quit.

What we really need to do is increase Hellsinker's exposure.

What is needed is someone who likes Hellsinker and knows japanese... I have a friend but he likes 2hou so he prefers translating that instead of Hellsinker. I proposed him to translate 3 or 4 lines a day but he said nope.jpg...

Hopefully, in a month or so we will start the translation of another 2hou so I might make he reconsider...

Hey guys.

I'm one of the hackers for the gensokyo.org game translation group, and we're branching out a bit from the Touhou games to other stuff.

Since I'm posting here, that means a Hellsinker translation patch is happening. I've done all the patching work on this game so far and can say it's progressing smoothly. And as we're a group that's actually done stuff before you can be at least reasonably confident it'll be finished!

At this time the whole thing's at roughly 70% completion. Can't give a timeframe on when it'll be done, but I'd wager within a few months. Don't ask when. It'll be done when it's done. You know how it goes, the last 20% always takes longer than the entire rest of the project combined.

I don't anticipate any further technical problems, at least, as we have full insertion done at this stage and (as far as we know, you can never tell with this game) all in-game resources have been accounted for.

Translation has been done independently by Nazerine. Most of the engrish will be left intact because it's just not Hellsinker without it, but pretty much any of the non-redundant Japanese will be edited.

Just giving a heads up!

It helps that Mauve is experienced with this crap (read his posts about working on SWR). And it looks like he's been working on this since at least January, if not November.

So how many weeks of pain did that one image end up causing you?
