...well, only a part of it. I'm getting circumcised.

Only a few months ago I found out I have phimosis. I went to the urologist just to be sure, and he confirmed that I have a severe case of it. He said that circumcision was required and that it was a simple procedure.

This week I'm doing some blood tests and then we'll arrange a date to get it done.

Anyone here went through the procedure as an adult?

Have you considered getting a preputioplasty done first? It basically fixes phimosis without the need of actually removing the foreskin, and I imagine if it doesn't work out you can always get a circumcision done instead.

Wonder whether apadravyas restore this alleged infectivity. Kinda helps one figure out why the argument isn't worth having. Doesn't seem worth ranting about; I don't know what I'm missing. Then again, I was clearly always going to be monogamous, which may not be true of everyone. A large number of nerve endings are present in the foreskin; losing it generally means a loss of sensation (to what degree can vary) as well as difficulty in masturbation because you no longer have a foreskin to easily 'glide' over the head of the penis (being uncut means you almost certainly won't need lube). It also tends to add an extra level of sensation for your partner during penetrative sex (sort of like ribbing on a condom, except better). Phimosis really shouldn't be treated with a circumcision first as there's no point in simply ditching all those nerve endings that add to the sensation. A large number of guys who have been circumcised without their consent (generally as children for religious reasons) actually spend time stretching their skin manually or via devices in order to regain a foreskin for sexual reasons.

I never understood why someone would think it looks aesthetically pleasing for someone to have chopped off an important/useful part of the penis.

It should also be noted that getting a circumcision in the hopes of reducing STD transmission (HIV in particular) is silly; any competent sexual health medical professional will tell you that you should always be using a condom unless you and your partner have both been tested (and even then, using a condom keeps you pretty damn safe from an unexpected STD, pregnancy, etc).

Yes, the urologist said I'll lose some sensitivity down there. But in my case, the foreskin barely retracts - exposing the tip of the gland is as far as I can go. My condition is severe enough that I can't have sex or put on a condom without feeling major pain.

So, I don't really have much of a choice.

My son is not circumcised, while I am. I just wanted to point out, that medical merits of circumcision are not all bullshit, as someone was trying to state (probably Skykid). A lot of them are though.

I had problems with my foreskin in the past, it was unable to uncover 100% my head, but the foreskin eventually lost the battle and now it fully retracts.

I had the same problem when I hit puberty. I don't remember everything but the doc showed me three pics of how my penis would look like. A little cut off, half and everything. Back than I choose the one that would keep me the most skin. I remember the time after the OP being really painful but the relief of finally pulling back the skin without pain was great.

Will you go for the "whole" cut or just a partly one? Because loosing the whole foreskin still to this date sounds pretty uncool to me in terms of "feelings"...

I'm pretty sure my case requires some form of intervention, but you bring a good point, I only went to one doctor. He was quick to suggest circumcision and didn't mention if some other procedure could be done. I think I'll check with another doctor, having a second opinion is always good.
