Thanks rancor! I like the fact that dodging bullets and shooting things was mentioned in relation to what's enjoyable about these games. Maybe this financial forecast thingy has made them rethink and go back to basics.

"7 years to clear" seems to imply there's going to be a loop.

I think him hoping it would take at least 7 years to clear was just a joke :p

Obviously, but I think it still implies that. Several other bits give the idea they're looking to make it equal or slightly harder than DOJ and I strongly doubt they're doing this by making an Ultra-level one loop game.

(then again, that took more than 7 years, didn't it?)

I don't see any reason whatsoever why there can't be an Ultra-level first round and beyond-ultra-level second round. That would make everyone happy (except for the people who can't get to stage 5 in DDP, who will cry about there being two rounds).

We really wanted to keep it simple and focus on the fun of dodging shots, which most can agree was the best part of the first one.

Because "Daioujou" was pretty spicy, we'd like to make "Sai Daioujou" even more so.

Since the game uses the initial cursor in TYPE-C, I am gravitated toward Maria in TYPE-C who is used most. I also like Hachi items whose presence you cannot ignore.
Hachi = bee. Bee items. "The initial cursor" = the default selection.

Wakabayashi Akira's answers were mostly useless gibberish. I get the feeling that he associates this game with the earthquake, which was no doubt a traumatic time for him and he may have lost somebody close to him at that time, so he kind of resents the game for that. The interviewer didn't want to talk about it, so Akira either gave him nonsense answers to be rude, or couldn't think clearly because his mind was already elsewhere at the start of the interview. He even said that he doesn't care whether people like the game or not - good to know he put so much spirit into it.

...He so clearly did it for the lulz that I don't know how to respond to your post politely other than pointing out this fact.

Without any trauma involved, I'd guess Yagawa feels the same way about his games.
