Lately I've been admiring how beautiful Varth, Battle Bakraid, and 19XX look on this thing.

Bit of a lighting problem right now but since I'm moving soon I'll reserve my whole gaming setup for when I'm in a nicer room. Anyway, I love this little 19" HP monitor I got from a dying Circuit City years ago. It's perfect for vertical shmupping and I pretty much keep it tilted at all times. I switch my video card over to a 32" Vizio plasma screen if I play hori. The color and image clarity would blow your mind for a supposedly low-end purchase. I also do a bit of emulation/classic gaming on a little Compaq laptop I got. They get the job done.

As far as systems go I've recently been robbed of my brand new 3DS :( and traded in my 360. I've decided PS3 is my choice. If the next gen is anything like this previous one I'll be sticking to one system. There's just not enough of a difference anymore.

My flat is covered floor to ceiling in boxes at the moment. Even if I could find the camera, I couldn't take a picture of any one space without it being obscured by cardboard. So here are some pics of my various setups used at an earlier meet:

You mean the one with the Saturn/projector and junk on it?

It's from Ikea, a model they released last year iirc.

Lol no. Fortunately the kitchen area, living room, family room and movie room are devoid of games/systems.

I don`t use the desktop PC much anymore, not because of wrist pain but because of leg pain which is exacerbated by sitting. During the previous STGT it was fairly bad :(

This is my setup in my old room at home. My current set up is mostly the same, just not next to each other.

Seeing all these LCD's makes wish I had got one. I love my CRT, but its so damn heavy ;_;.

nothing special to mention, the second picture would be from my chair's viewpoint. On the first picture, 2 of the 3 white plastic bags contain sweets, the other one (the closest to the mouse) contains hard modelling mass. There's also a scanner which I rarely use, and on top of it, a recently acquired Wacom Bamboo tablet which I haven't used yet, and there's a microphone which I also rarely use because I'm not fluent with english language :p

I feel obliged to share my ghetto setup... it's only temporary so very plain, the left screen is for the 360 and horis, and it's my favorite small screen for MAME on the right (compare with the size of the stick)... chairs are overrated :P

yes, the door (shown on the first pic) is usually closed (relatives don't like noise from the room, etc) and when this happens I get low (or no) ventilation. If I need to clean sweat or mouth (from eating stuff) or the desk itself, I don't have to go get paper on the bathroom. Don't use it often, though.

that's environmental unfriendly. I just use the same piece of cloth all the time, and never wash it just to save water. it's pretty hard and crusty now.

This is where I get my shmup on lately:

Image

My newly revived PC, stick of choice these days is a Mad Catz TvC w/Mayflash classic controller adapter. Rotating LCD mount from Gateway (found on eBay).

The machine is an AMD 7750 w/4GB, 2 x 640GB RAID 0 and a 9800GT, so it's fantastic for pretty much any emulator or PC game. PS2 emulation can be a wee bit sluggish depending on the game, but PSX, DC, Gamecube and Wii are all perfect. I usually use a 360 controller for PC/console games.

I do also have a CRT setup with my Wii and PS2 (and sometimes SNES, DC, Gamecube or supergun), but it's the only TV in the house so it sees more Grey's Anatomy than Border Down, regrettably. I also don't have a good stand/rack/shelf to put everything in so most of it lives in the closet at the moment.

My gameroom has been constantly changing this past year...
Here is a pile of 5 CRTs I don't even have set up at the moment.

Yeah, I know. I was just mashing buttons to get a quick picture and see if nothing would fall off - it's a Nikon D3100 that I had a buddy pretty much literally smuggle into the country for me. Still a long way before I get my money's worth from it, I've long forgotten all my photography lessons from college, even the most basic stuff.

Of course, your comment was completely uncalled for and reeks of usual shmups chat gratuitous elitism, but since I appreciate your (hopeless) crusade to make off-topic a less dumb place, there you go, have a reasonably polite answer.

Aaaaaaaaaand here's my work setup:

Image

HP Compaq 6200 SFF PC
Intel Core i3 2120
4GB
Dual Dell 19" LCD monitors w/HAS
Hori DOA4 stick

The joystick is barely acceptable for serious play, but it's a nice compact size and hides easily in a drawer

The processor on the PC is a beast and it will play just about everything in MAME with no problem. I haven't tried some of the 3D-ish stuff like Gnet/ST-V/AW yet though.

Somewhat off-topic, but... I've just never understood how people prefer having two screens with both not facing them straight. :|
