My late-ordered copy arrived yesterday, here's a score for Arrange, I barely register on any of the other modes...

BulletMagnet - 202,019,142 - Stage 5 - No Full Auto (I guess that's "default?")

Man, that last boss is awful...if I can't beat him on Arrange, there's no way I'm gonna take him on any of the other modes...if I can even get to him.

The last last boss is only on Arrange and Ultra, I believe, so you don't have to worry about him on original and maniac.

and you need 4 life to beat him I think

Well, I did some more playing through the game. This time I would restart on levels 1-3 if I even used one bomb. Yes, the high score doesn't get counted, but it helps you to do perfect runs without going 3 levels back. I am just loving this game. I love DD:DOJ, but it never sucked me in like this game has. It's just simply stunning. I also had my first perfect run through the level 3 "battleship" where you can rack up a huge parent counter. Man, it was so awesome to see the numbers just skyrocketing. Anyway, I'm done getting all hot and botehred by this gaming goodness, so here' my new score:

128,155,943

Yes, it's only a bit better, but I got to the last form of the stage 5 boss, and then preceeded to get owned hardcore. On a side note, I've been playing as type W a lot lately because I notice a big difference in the banking and parent and child counters. What is the ship you use for most of the game? I realize people switch when playing, but what is the ship you find to be the best for score all around?

Offhand I think W type would be best to play for score, since it takes more hits from it to kill stuff, and in the meantime it can rack the hit counter up higher than the other two...at least I think it'd work that way.

I won't play again the hated/loved Original... It's a pain in the ass! 1 Life Clear for me is totally out of discussion. 50 mil is good enough

One thing,

maniac stage 4 mid boss makes me completely crazy

every good run to stage 4 ended at this boss, so I make restart and usually it works 2/3 at the second try
I've never done a first try run in stage 4....

If smbdy has a 100% safe way to kill it with more than 100000 counter, PLEASE tell me...

ps : I can build up my counter up to 370000 at the head in stage 3, and now my best on maniac stage 1 is 6.59mil

Aside for starting at the extreme left of the screen and slowly working to the right, I have no idea for a foolproof method of beating it's final attack - I tend to cop out and throw a bomb these days

My score's pretty crap, but there are still slots open on the Maniac score table, so why not?

kawaijb - 401,765,850 - ALLCLEAR - ALTERNATE

here we go

perfect run in stage 2 (60mil),
one life lost at the end of stage 3

,
70mil on stage 4, a "silly" life lost near the end of the stage,
105mil on stage 5 with one life bonus, one life lost on mid boss 5 but revival with skyrocket and get out of him with a 90000 counter

, and one life lost on final boss,

don't know if I can do better than this, 10mil more on stage 3, 10mil more on stage 4, and 2 more life bonus, the mid boss 5 skyrocket is impossible without dying and it has the same effect as not dying and tap A so...

well 40/50 mil more would be my highest possible score on Ps2 maniac

I'm guessing you mean Maniac? That score is impossible to achieve in Original without clearing the game.

Managed to get to the rainbow fly on stage 5. Shot was set at 4 and full auto at 2. Really like this game. 1cc coming soon.
