Well, looks like I shall be the first to make a high score thread on this! I'm loving this game to death so far, and I'm no-missing Original, even though it's not as easy as many people would assume.

Rules: no continues, default settings, tables for all 4 modes will be set.
Submit in the order shown in the table.

I was going to make a thread, but I decided that I'd rather let someone else manage one. Plus, I don't have the game yet. You'll be seeing some good stuff from me once I get it, though. :D

One thing I was thinking about a high score table for this game is the use of the autofire tweaking. Perhaps some sort of note as to what each person uses would be interesting. I'm personally really curious as to how different frequencies will change the scoring in this game.

Anyone willing to do a strat on the scoring mechanics cause I know nothing and my japanese extends about as far as "save" and "load", so I doubt the manual will be much help :(

I think a lot of that will just come organically, but yeah, if anyone could break it down I'd be most thankful.

Maniac

Zakk - 13,893,333 - 3 - M-Power

Arrange

Zakk - 92,826,249 - 4 - M-Power

Btw, listing power is probably not all that useful, since it can change mid-game.

Yes, I guess listing power doesn't have to be needed just for Arrange, but for the other 3 modes, it's practically needed.

It can change in the other modes too.

Watch a power-up icon. It has a little rotating meter inside of it. When it gets to the end, it switches to a power up of a different type.

The options pickups do this too.

Working on summarising the strategy discussion at Click-Stick's, and archiving the important parts of said forum thread. Give me a couple of days.

Arrange mode, 122,954,500, Stage 5. This may be the first time I've actually gotten this far in a game from CAVE. @_@

Some comments on this run:

- I no-missed stages 1 and 2 without using bombs at all. @_@
- Got an extra life faster than usual on stage 2, hmm. I usually get at stage 3, this may have to do with changing my option formation...
- Extra lives appear at 20,000,000 and 100,000,000 points for Arrange mode.
- This game is fucking awesome.

Stage 3. The giant bug head before the boss. Destroy all eight arms to the sides before you destroy the head. The 1UP should appear if done correctly, just in time for the boss battle.

Hah, arrange is funny. I'm like, this is so easy, it autobombs, I'm over powered, and hell, I'm on the last boss with tons of lives and bombs to spare. Finish him off and guess who shows up...

Guess I'll beat that arrange mode next time.

Anyway, played each mode once, and so far, I'm just going to plop down my arrange score because the other ones are sad.

MrMonkeyMan - 171,574,186 - Stage 5 - Arrange

EDIT

Might as well add this one too.

MrMonkeyMan - 30,855,559 - Stage 4 - Maniac

It's almost a billion.

Gaijin Punch - 32,916,750 - Stage 4 - Maniac
Gaijin Punch - 75,970,214 - Stage 5 - Arrange

Arrange is just maniac w/ auto-bombing and more slowdown (and firepower) no? Fun, but I feel like I'm cheating.

Ok, how on earth are you guys getting scores that high? I don't understand the scoring at all. I died today at the level 5 boss on arrange and only had 85 million. Yet yesterday I almost hit 100 million at level 4 (first try every playing the game).

Gonna be tricky balancing the high-scores, since some will use the autofire trick and some won't. Maybe a split between autofire and non-autofire like in Arcadia is needed? Personally, I only use the "normal" full-auto rapidfire when playing with a pad, and nothing if using a joystick.

Ghegs - 4,325,040 - Stage 4 - Original

Ghegs - 22,800,239 - Stage 3 - Maniac

Ghegs - 137,367,809 - Stage 5 - Arrange

Think I'll focus on Original with a sidedish of Maniac for now.

EDIT: Finally broke into Stage 4 in Original.

Ultra is really stupid. It's just not very fun when I'm still having troubles with the other modes. Maybe after I can clear the game on Maniac.

If you are play for score use W-Power with Trace Option. This can increase your shot contact time and thus keep the bonus counter running. Also the W-Power would deal out damage slower, this would keep the bosses and large alive longer to let the bonus counter counting sky high.

My scores:

Acrade PBC
SAM - 7,8xx,xxx - Stage 5 - Orginal (2 lifes, extend only once at 3,000,000)
Sorry that the settings at the acrade

PS2
SAM - 5,820,300 - Stage 5 - Orginal
SAM - 227,772,993 - Stage 5 - Arrange

If you don't care about defaults, you can set the "Full Auto" to 10 or so, and then you do less damage but hit more.

You should separate the scores into autofire/ no auto tables. I'm sure once things are figured out there will be a significant difference.

Oh C'mon. There's a button for auto fire in the default config. That's just being silly.

I'm talking about the hardware autofire options that have been emulated for the port- it changes the scoring potential dramatically.
