Still, clearing it is by no means an empty accomplishment and clearly shows the person has some idea of what he's doing.

If you're not using Tiger Schwert, do so. Faster movement = more ability to macrododge. Considering that you're getting to the final attack you'll manage it pretty soon - I remember I was stuck for about a week on the final boss. Good luck though!Cagar wrote:I totally agree on this one. It's actually the first cave game I've ever 1ccd, and it's in NO WAY the hardest one. Ketsui, for example, is giving me a total hell (mostly due to small & weird shaped bullets, and the player helicopter looks like a mess)Erppo wrote:The first loop of DOJ being somehow especially hard is mostly a myth. I've said it before but the main reason DOJ is so difficult for me is because you can't see own hitbox so I always get really nervous when I have to do precise dodges and make mistakes I wouldn't in stuff like Futari. I very much disagree that it's easier than DDP as that one at least gives enough bombs to just bomb through half the game. But I guess I'll just take you guys word for it that that's a problem unique to me.Cagar wrote:I totally agree on this one. I take it you aren't using Shotia?Gus wrote:I've said it before but the main reason DOJ is so difficult for me is because you can't see own hitbox so I always get really nervous when I have to do precise dodges and make mistakes I wouldn't in stuff like Futari. Exy is the recommended choice really, since she has the speed, range and firepower to speedkill through most enemies and clear up popcorn, which is simply invaluable in the loop even for sheer survival, let alone chaining. Gus probably has the skills to handle Shotia in the loop though, so he might be able to do something with her (though I shudder to think about doing Hibachi with Shotia...).Barrakketh wrote:I take it you aren't using Shotia?
If you're just going for a 1-ALL Shotia will probably be an easier choice for beginners because you have lots of bombs to save your ass unless you're one of those people that always dies with bombs in stock. Your normal shot is actually pretty great if you use it more often since it covers a fairly large part of the screen when using type-B.Aliquantic wrote:Exy is the recommended choice really, since she has the speed, range and firepower to speedkill through most enemies and clear up popcorn, which is simply invaluable in the loop even for sheer survival, let alone chaining. I'll admit when I finally knuckled down to DOJ I got the clear faster than I would have thought possible previously, but it's still hard, and much harder (at least in survival terms) than DDP. Who said it was easier?Gus wrote:I've said it before but the main reason DOJ is so difficult for me is because you can't see own hitbox so I always get really nervous when I have to do precise dodges and make mistakes I wouldn't in stuff like Futari. I agree with Gus. Play STG's with what suits you best. Their is no right or wrong way to play. Have fun!.Gus wrote:If you can already play fine without an arcade stick then don't waste your cash.
I wouldn't insult Gus by giving him "first loop" strategies only is all, when the DOJBL are full of people who got to 2-4 or 2-5Barrakketh wrote:Gus was also lamenting the lack of bombs, so I was pointing out that there are options for that in DOJ. Maybe I missed some context and he's actually having trouble with the second loop, but Shotia should be more than sufficient for a 1-ALL.
Depends on the game. If there's an end-of-stage bonus screen after defeating a boss, or end-of-game bonus (such as extra points for remaining lives and bombs), these won't be included on a screenshot taken before that point. So I guess it depends if you only want to show you finished the game, or if you want to compare your high score with others.Cagar wrote:What ... is wrong with taking the picture after defeating the boss?
