Ah yes, the ol' Raiden II PCB -- it's an ol' favorite of mine. My local arcade known as the "Regency Game Palace" based out of Modesto, CA, had gotten in a brand new Raiden II conversion kit (courtesy of Fabtek USA arcade distributor) and placed it inside a woodie Dynamo upright cab back in February of 1994. Even had a "New Game" marquee placed on top to denote that it was a new arcade shmup as well. That was the very first time I had seen/played this cool new Raiden arcade shmup sequel properly.

In the mid-1990s, I would spot a Raiden II conversion cab in no less than four different arcades in the Greater Modesto area (the aforementioned Regency Game Palace, Tilt!, Camelot Park & Nickel Play arcades). It was a very popular arcade shmup for it's time. Ironically, the only proper way for me to play the Raiden II PCB version is at home nowdays.

A definite blast from the past, indeed.

Btw, does your Raiden II PCB come with a backup battery installed, Akraten?

be careful with those ribbon cables/sockets. They love to go bad....
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Nice one! Twin Cobra has been on my list for some time, but now that I look at the size of the board, with those ribbons, I'm thinking maybe I should just stick to the PS1 port (Toaplan Shooting Battle v.1). Only so much space in my little place.

If the ribbon cables get loose, it's a cinch to reseat them properly so that the PCB works 100% from the get-go. It's commonplace to see such dual layered interfaces on the older Jamma PCBs from the mid-1980s (1986-1987). Even the USA region Taito/Toaplan Alcon (aka Slap Fight) PCB is known to use Oki produced ribbon cables in it's setup.

My Twin Cobra has some kind of graphical glitch that only affects the sprites. :/ I don't think it's ribbon related though, as touching the roms or lightly patting them will fix the glitch. Kind of annoying though, especially during boss fights.

Nice one AKRATEN. I'd be interested to hear you feedback on this one. I've often been tempted to pick up the PCB myself.

I dig the games art style and music , it is kinda strange that the music changes every time you get a new
weapon but all in all I am really happy with it.
The game is solid and a hell of a lot of fun!

here is some info on the game with screenshots.

Remember when Tiger Woods was dominating, and vegas would put the odds of the next major as:
Tiger Woods 3:1
The Field 5:1

I view this thread in the same way. Who will score the next beautiful PCB:
Akraten 2:1
The Field 3:1

Just sayin'.

I truly admire your dedication to finding and acquiring new pcb's, it is a superb thing to watch.

This is happening to mine as well and I have been told that you need to reflow the board to fix this - could br cracked solder or just old solder that's not making contact anymore. It's pretty cheap to have done and there are a lot of PCB guys in the US that do it, I've just been too lazy to send it out.

Now, it's super cool and all, but the seller (on eBay of course, where else do you find fucking scammers like this) advertised it as an MV1C, here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0728957973

So, do I bitch and complain, or (as I'm leaning towards) do I keep my mouth shut because the MV1F is more desirable?

The EXACTLY same thing happened to me. eBay seller said "C" I got an "F" , which is cooler.

Funny thing was, it still had a game in it. KOF '94. I paid $24 shipping included. Freebay.

I have NEVER seen the PCB listed for less than $300...

What did you pay, if you don't mind saying?
