Yes, this isn't about "enjoying the scoring system" so much as it's about "doing a good job", but I bring this up because it leads into the former anyway, because people keep worrying about "being good at the game" without understanding what that really means.
Different strokes. I can have fun with a game I don't own the world record in.
True words. DOJ was godly to me before I put serious effort into chaining/score, I was convinced of its brilliance on survival alone.

Well yes, but only because you're a lazy pussy.

As someone who cares very little about score, I'm certainly not that big on chaining either. My only concern for score is in regards to extends. Once I've got enough, I cease to care. For me, it's all about survival and getting that 1cc.

So describing the system means I am whining about it?

Trolls these days.

Chaining is fun... when you get it right. Gawd, the restartitis today. :(

I had Hachi down to a sliver of energy too.

Chaining is very rewarding, but once I sort out the first two stages or so I start to dread approaching new ones. I dunno if I'm just bad at it or miss simple things, but even when I know exactly what to do I have trouble hooking all the chunks of a stage (even the easy ones) together.

On the topic of DOJ, I'm finding it to be one of the most enjoyable games to play for survival.

No, that is an accurate description of Progear and Cave’s approach to score systems. I clearly like Progear or Chain wouldn’t be in my avatar. If you’re going to reply to me then maybe address the part where I argued you were wrong?

I think the "Cave." at the end makes it read somewhat like whining.
