That's harsh. The best I've done is technically 1 life but really 2 lives (I missed that 1UP head again somehow, yet still got a 1 life extend by the end). That last boss totally rapes me, I'm pretty sure no-death no-bomb is almost impossible.MrMonkeyMan wrote:I had 610 million points in arrange today, but I had no lives left for any bonus
My scores are considerably lower than yours, you're obviously putting some thought into chaining. I seem to have a complete disregard for scoring in anything that isn't Original, blasting anything indiscriminantly. I think I'm too lazy to learn...

CVM - 38,228,164 - Stage 5 - Maniac
Maximum extend is 5 lives, so his max is about 1.11 billion.LUNardei wrote:It's really unbelievable! So what is your theoretical maximum score?

Well, in that 610 million run, I got hit near the end of stage 3 (2 more times on the boss), right after the midboss of stage 4 (no missed the boss, woo), and a ton of times on stage 5 (first death came somewhere after the midboss), then totally blew it on the final boss as I got raped hardcore.
I could probably get another 50 million or more points if I could not get hit on the levels (not likely).
I think I might just stick with arrange mode. Not having to tap the buttons or worry about switching between four different firing buttons suits me much better.

You just described my usual form in Arrange. I usually drop my first life on Stage 5. On my previous high score, I didn't lose a life until I hit the Stage 5 boss.MrMonkeyMan wrote:Well, in that 610 million run, I got hit near the end of stage 3 (2 more times on the boss), right after the midboss of stage 4 (no missed the boss, woo), and a ton of times on stage 5 (first death came somewhere after the midboss), then totally blew it on the final boss as I got raped hardcore.

From your talk of fire buttons it sounds like you also think this whole rapid fire thing is only good for making the playing field unlevel.

Got any tips for high scoring in Arrange mode besides use W-Power all the time?

I switch to S shot at the 2nd boss, actually. Your chain seems to increase faster with the S shot when it's powered up.
Tips though, Umm, shoot things point blank, hold just A a lot, keep those stage 4 and 5 midbosses alive until the enemy swarms start appearing, learn to chain better?
It's a lot easier to keep your chain up since killing enemies stalls your chain a lot longer then in maniac or ultra mode, you can start shooting larger enemies before they're even on the screen to boost your chain.

I only just came back to playing arrange after getting fed up with maniac and having to restart all the time after messing up stage 3
Actually never realised the counter held longer in arrange and so started messing around with it again. Hell of a lot more relaxing than maniac or the stupidity that is ultra (that level 2 boss is just soul destroying)

Wow, I'm just getting used to arcade and arrange. You sir are a braver man then I. Best of luck getting your chops up to play in Very Hard. I think I'll practice in the sandbox that is original and then go up from there. Once I can 1cc it, then I'll go on....yea right like that will ever happen.ResOGlas wrote:Very Hard+Ultra+S shot = ResOGlas has no high score.

Not that I don't have the game myself, but I've seen replay videos of Mushihimesama on Ultra mode... Well, it's HARDER than the other modes offered.ResOGlas wrote:Very Hard+Ultra+S shot = ResOGlas has no high score.

You cranking up the difficulty when Ultra mode already provides you with a hair-splitting difficulty is just... BAFFLING.
Suck in your pride for a bit and try playing it on Default setting on Ultra mode, and you'll have the challenge you seek. Seriously.
