Holy shit I hate the Hori Ex. Yes I want to press a dpad which feels like a button and slants downwards for directions.
I'd recommend the Slim 360 dpad if you really have to stick to 360 controllers.

Er - the Hori is concave, it doesn't slope down (like the Rock Band one does).

How would you compare the rock band controller to a normal xbox 360 wireless/wired controller with d-pad shaved?
One thing I like about the Rock Band controller is it is one of the cheaper controllers to obtain a PCB and use it in a custom arcade stick controller.
