LOL no. Cave doesn't have the code for that anymore. They could ask ZBL-NAI, but I'm not sure he's willing to part with it.Estebang wrote: On the good side: if they're releasing the game again at this point in time, Campaign Edition will likely be included!

Can we expect all future shmup ports to have tacked-on Kinect support? There's talk that MS might require all 360 games to feature it to some degree--I mean, goddamn Mass Effect 3 will use it.

Well they just gave us a bunch of ports that we'd thought we might never see and ported much of their back catalogue to console so it's hard to be mad at them.Estebang wrote:No, having a playable version of DDP is not the point. I don't think this is such a travesty in itself, it's just representative of how far Cave has fallen and how grim the future of non-smartphone shmup development looks. A bad omen, if you will.
Even so I'm still thinking what the fuck - although to be fair Sega did it with their old super scaler games on Shenmue already.
it boils down to this - if Dodonpachi can be unlocked and playable from the Title menu and includes joystick support, then I'm possibly looking at my first, and quite possibly last visual novel purchase ever. If not, and I'm not betting on it, then of course no sale.
Interesting strategy, if that's even what this is

i must be getting old because when i was a kid this kind of bonus would be a thing of celebration, i still have fond memories of continuous looping of tiny phalanx for instance.. i would be chuffed if i had bought a (imo) p.o.s like instant brain and found it had a gem like DDP thrown in at the end?

Moreover, this isn't "Kinect Dodonpachi". Kinect support is optional. Perhaps a mod can change this thread's title, yeah?
To respond though, I'll probably buy it once it's in Amazon.jp's discount section. Pretty sure it will happen, just like so many other Cave releases.

I've been hoping like crazy for a 360 release of ddp. I'm guessing this won't have any screen options though will it?

Re: Kinect Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
It's very peculiar indeed, but there's sort of a precedent for it. In the PC Engine port of Konami's dating sim Tokimeki Memorial there were two hidden shmups to unlock. Of course those were fairly simple (and exclusive to the port) games and not a port of a very well-known arcade title, but still. Konami put those in as fanservice and I imagine that's the same reason Cave has.Blackbird wrote:What an incomprehensible decision, from a marketing standpoint. Include a twitch shooting game with a visual novel, of all things? Sure, some fans of visual novels might also like shmups, but I doubt there is much overlap between the fanbases.

I really don't see what's so weird about this. They're not going to release it as a download, as Guwange tanked (in Cave's eyes), and they'd have to add arrange modes and whatnot. Ditto for if it was a standalone disc release. And even if it is OMG DoDonpachi, a sixteen year old isn't going to sell much by itself. Far better to shove it in as bonus content on a visual novel.

Re: Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
Not that ild buy it due to region locking but ideally Cave should include TATE plus an alternate way of unlocking the content. IE player who dont want the hassle of playing a VN can just leave the 360 unattended for 2-6 hours to unlock it, any controller input cancels the timer so that those playing the VN dont unlock DDP early by accident
I agree, XBLA costs too much money for DDP. Wasnt the reason Dangun Feveron got cancelled was due to the low return from Guwange? Imo best just to accept the fact and be thankful DDP is coming to the 360 by some other means and go and let CAVE know you are interested in it so they might make DDP to standard acceptable to shmuppersI really don't see what's so weird about this. Re: Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
So uh, is it going to be better than playing it on MAME? must be totally worth paying for the whole VN.
Would be pretty amusing if it's just a rom and an emulator like some compilations.

I can't believe the amount of whining in this thread. People are acting as though CAVE just announced that all their future shooters will be Kinect-only or something. It's a nice little freebie for people who buy Instant Brain - nothing more, nothing less.

It turns out this version will have both loops.
Leaderboards unconfirmed as of yet, no information.
Re: Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
Don't see why It can't have TATE since it's not like they have to develop a new GUI or whatever.
Re: Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
lol guys.. it's just a ploy by Cave so you guys can buy more of this Instant Brain rubbish.. just play DDP on MAME and be happy - leaderboards.. who cares about that 95% of this forum hate DDP's "anal chaining scoring - omg must be at the right place at the right frame or all over - like any other titles are any better"

Re: Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
How would you react if this would include DDP Campaign (and not DDP)

Re: Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
... well you're it's got Instant Brain attention, even if tangentially, so I suppose job done?
I'm not sure if the consumer interest cross-over exists [or can be made to exist], but maybe it does....
Anyways thanks ddp, now shake it and sell some other stuff.
Not for me. Even if it had campaign. If instant brain sells it means another instant brain, not another ddp.

Sorry if I'm late, but, damned, is all this really TRUE ?
I mean, will Cave will actually make a visual novel in which is included Dodonpachi ? The shooting game ?
I need one of you to confirm this fact so that I can believe it for the rest of my life...

Re: Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
Definitely pre-ordering this! I'll press the A button over and over for a few hours to make it through a visual novel and unlock DDP. Whatever. And I am actually intrigued by DDP with Kinect support because playing ESPgaluda on an iPod is hours and hours of fun when I am on the train/bus. Can't wait.

Re: Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
Ummm, so: there's this ancient game (that everyone has been able to play perfectly with an emulator for god knows how long), and then there's Cave thinking it would be funny to add it as a free extra in their VN. Suddenly everyone is pissed off as fuck.
Sometimes I really fail to understand this forum.

Re: Kinect Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
My guess is that it's this, they asked themselves "how do we get properly working Kinect support in a VN" and they decided to add the weirdest thing possible in an act of defiance/boredom/freedom of artistic expression. Then again I'm just speculating because this is downright silly.Estebang wrote:Can we expect all future shmup ports to have tacked-on Kinect support? I wouldn't be surprised if the standards differed by publisher/developer. It's well known that MS wants to push casual games towards Kinect and whether you like it or not, CAVE is basically a casual game developer when it comes to volume worldwide; they have the same pattern of (relatively) many games with (relatively) few copies sold.
Re: Dodonpachi coming to 360 (by way of Instant Brain)
I'll throw my 2 cents in here: CAVE should next time keep this a secret. Simple and effective marketing tool. Sort of like the way Castlevania SOTN was released with the secret ending and upside down castle.
