Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
just put the exe in mameplus or any gui version folder. it should use the gui setting.Klatrymadon wrote:How do I change the display settings in MAME64? I'm only used to using MAME Plus and versions with a similar GUI, so I'm a bit lost here.
IIRC, these games has sound shortly after the DOJ/ketsui got emulated. a revision after that methinks.Estebang wrote:Yeah, I'm waiting till the games have sound. Dogyuun/Batsugun are no fun on MAME.
It is to us a sufficient body in which, fairies and it is packed and can group of play.
Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
GradiusuiraD: Just get the newest version of Mame or MameUI. In those the sound for Dogyuun works fine, music and all. Dunno since which version tho.
Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
Is their any 32bit version of this new uptodate build?

Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
Cheers, Joeboto, but it still just opens its own way. Oh well, the games are playable enough!
Ed: in fact, it messed up my other versions a bit. They now think Batsugun has missing files, even though they were playing it earlier.

Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
Thanks for letting me know that the Toaplan games have sound now--it was years ago when I tried them last.
Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
I meant of the build posted a few pages back (the one with increased speed).

Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
Ah, my bad, sorry.
Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
you made my day!... playing Futari BLK full speed and almost zero glitches. this one i didnt have in the XBox360, so its something new for me.... also, MMPork works pretty good too.RetroRepair wrote:Absolute up to the minute build (64bit): http://www.sendspace.com/file/66sc4c
Has MK Champ's Hi Score patch, sorry (not working with sh3 games).
Much faster, no glitches I can see and save support (eeprom/NAND).
You are better off with u6 roms for ds, futari etc, the latest have missing files it seems.
Also hold "0" for service menus.

It'll be so cool when the SH-3 games finally get sound and Shmupmame gets updated to include them and finally start working on my machine again.

All Toaplan games have sound EXCEPT forTrevHead (TVR) wrote: Do the other Toaplan games have sound as well? ShmupMame is the latest version I have. When the Cave games are fully emulated ill DL the lot and have a ball.
Teki Paki
Ghox
Pipi & Bibis / Whoopee!! (Japan version on Teki Paki board)
Fire Shark / Same Same Same
Vimana
all of which need their sound MCU decapping and reading out at a cost of ~200$ per chip, per attempt to do so. Failed attempts destroy the chips.
FixEight, V-Five, Dogyuiun, Knuckle Bash and Batsugun have had sound for almost a year now.
I wouldn't count on sound in the Cave SH3 games any time soon, Demul cheats badly on it, basically linking in official Yamaha binaries to decode the sound making their code non-portable and completely unsuitable for MAME. Also the binary posted by RetroRepair is probably as fast as I can make it.
Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
the u23 and u24 files seem to be interchangeable, so if you're getting missing file errors, just take some from one set and plop some copies in the other.
most of these games won't run for me from the menu in retrorepair's custom build, citing missing files. i have to launch them manually from the command line -- from there, it's perfect.

ah, so they could probably just be replaced with empty files at this point, if you wished.IseeThings wrote:They're the sound roms.captpain wrote:the u23 and u24 files seem to be interchangeable, so if you're getting missing file errors, just take some from one set and plop some copies in the other.

Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
mame64 (or whatever exe) <gamename>
where gamename is the name of the foldername, such as ddonpach for Dodonpachi in the current mame versions.
If the rom dirs are set correctly it will be found.
There are more commandline options and such, which I think you can look up at the official mame site.

Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
Mushi is still slow even with the fix. It's averaging around 57%, but everything else is around 90%.
Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
Oh, are they actually MPEG streams? Last I heard about it (a while ago) people were looking at the TwinVQ patents to see if anything matched up.g0me3 wrote:you forgot to tell about mame mpeg algos policy ;)IseeThings wrote:I wouldn't count on sound in the Cave SH3 games any time soon, Demul cheats badly on it, basically linking in official Yamaha binaries to decode the sound making their code non-portable and completely unsuitable for MAME. Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
of course they is, twinvq was obvious assumption, since it's yamaha's and it's only known "open" not-so-quite-mpeg formatnZero wrote:Oh, are they actually MPEG streams? Last I heard about it (a while ago) people were looking at the TwinVQ patents to see if anything matched up.

Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
For those looking for a 32-bit version build, get it here. Compiled it myself.
So I presume based on what's been said that sound's not going to be implemented for a long while eh?

Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
Could someone help a complete noob on how to use command prompt for mame? I must be doing something wrong. Every time i get an error about mame is not recognized as an internal or external command , operable program or bathc file.
Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
are you inside mame's folder?
Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
God knows i give up, heres hoping for a mame release that isnt retarded with checksums, file names and so on .This is what i was following http://mamedev.org/devwiki/index.php/FAQ:Running
Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
You have to specify where the mame.exe is. C:/users/desktop...etc.
But you can also just use the new mameplus or one that has a nice interface.
Personally, I can't get any of these games running at 100% no matter what version. Some, like all of the Futari's, run at about 85%, which is close but not good enough. Kind of hurts to see Muchi Pork look so sharp and yet not being able to play it right.
Still, just about there. Maybe if I upgrade my computer I'll be doing better like others here seem to be. I dunno if anyone should be submitting scores with any of these though.

Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?
For MAME command line N00Bs, just create a batch file for each of your games.
Open Notepad and enter the following:
Click Save and change from Text format to All formats and save the batch file as gamename.bat INSIDE YOUR MAME FOLDER. Easy as pie.
[MAME.EXE] - make sure to copy/enter the exact name of your binary here, "mame_147u7.exe" or whatever it's called
[gamename] - make sure to copy/enter the exact name of your game rom here "ibara" or whatever you want to play
[-joy] - enables any directinput gamepad/joystick you may have connected to your computer
Open Notepad and enter the following:
Code: Select all
MAME.EXE gamename -joy
[MAME.EXE] - make sure to copy/enter the exact name of your binary here, "mame_147u7.exe" or whatever it's called
[gamename] - make sure to copy/enter the exact name of your game rom here "ibara" or whatever you want to play

If they can do it you can do it - getting your head round command lines and batch files will take you to a whole new level with this stuff and it's easier than playing Gradius IV
