I'm playing CT for the first time ever right now (yes, finally).
It's a great game, don't get me wrong. I'm 10 hours in and loving it. But it's not a Seiken Densestsu 2 beater in my book (yet.) It doesn't have that game's immersive qualities and the soundtrack isn't as strong.
Of course if I'd played it on the Snes back in the day I would have been seduced: the graphics are really something in places and the battles are some of the snappiest turn based affairs I've played.
But I'm a little let down by the fact there are no actual towns to come across, only overhead maps: mostly repeated over and over. It's a minor niggle perhaps, but I really feel like the 'complete' towns in most Square Snes games were always a leisurely break from fighting stuff - here such instances seem a little fleeting, making CT feel more battle heavy than most. It crammed a lot of it's non-fighting stuff early on with the fair and the courtroom, but since then it's been a strict diet of time-hopping and fighting and not much else.
Still having a lot of fun with it though.
