Space Invaders: Infinity Gene has some references some other Taito games, like the homing shot ship looks like a smaller version of the Rayforce ship and the power up items look like newalone particles from Metal Black. Second last boss on XBLA ver references Rez and Raycrisis I think. The iPhone version also had those Darius and Metal Black extra ships and horizontal levels.

Shikigami no Shiro 2 names one of its music tracks "Metempsychosis", which is the title of the last stage in Ikaruga.

No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

It΄s the Yashichi. Initially an enemy sprite in Vulgus, it became the 1-up item in many Capcom games later onmanatworks wrote:what's this sign actually?,i've spotted them in many capcom's gameIaspis wrote:Also, from Vulgus:

Sidearms: Hyper Dyne PCB Factoid:
The Yashichi was featured in the 1986 PCB of Sidearms: Hyper Dyne as an power-up icon for full straight-on auto-fire upgrade in addition to the "star" icon that nets a player 3-way full auto-fire upgrade. Sidearms' 1up featured a very different icon nevertheless. It's possible to earn two 1ups via grabbing the hidden 1up icons and by reaching the 1up score extend as well for a grand total of six lives in reserve upon reaching the final end-game boss of Bozon (on default settings) on the USA region Sidearms PCB. (This same method applies to the original JPN region variant PCB of Sidearms as well but the default settings are a bit different for score extends and for coins per credit parameters.) Too bad there wasn't a Free Play option enabled for SA PCB though (although the credit number can be cranked up to 99 coins max if it needed be).
Hidden icons such as strawberries and even cows are featured in SA. How cool is that? Pick them up for added bonus points to your overall score.
Two peculiar SA enemy mecha sprites look like a homage/tribute to the classic 1982 Super Dimensional Fortress Macross anime series also.
