Ultra

Post by DEL »

Here's a crappy Ultra Mode score to keep the Ultra table rolling :? ;

Ultra Mode
DEL - 31,647,307 - Stage 3 Boss - ineffective Alternate (PCB)

By 'ineffective Alternate' I mean that this score was achieved on a cab with a non-syncronized C+ that basically doesn't C bank, unlike the PS2 C+ 2 which does.
I've spent very little time on this mode, but I will come back to it after posting a Maniac Alternate score.

kawaijb - 286,283,418 - Stage 5 - Alternate

mode maniac off course

this play ends with the stage 5 mid boss,
a good one lifed run in stage 2 and 3, horrible runs in 4 (35mil) and 5 (30mil)

stage 4 mid boss last pattern is just very hard to survive while ennemies shot at you  , I die 80% of the time
stage 5 mid boss is different from the arcade version, it doesn't slow as in arcade, and so the skyrocket is harder to do here

"Not sure if I can stand playing this game for score much longer..."

What do you mean?

You don't see other tactics/technics to score more?

The game scoring boring you?

there must be a way to score very more even without rapids, look at the japanese 900mil, however I can't imagine what they do...
But in fact, as mentioned, stage 5 mid boss is a lot harder on PS2...so scoring too

Thanks for the kind words, kawaijb.
Nice score, DEL. I mean, I'm a bit jealous certainly, but nice one! :D

PS2-version-Slowdown kills in Ultra Mode :(
I feel like I spend as much time learning to chain stages as I do learning how each enemy's bullets will slow down the game so I don't get killed by moving too fast when the slowdown kicks out again.

I have not played the arcade version, it may also have off-on-off slowdown. I have my doubts though.

edit: learned how to spell kawaijb's name :)

In the Mushihime thread in the general chat, I think people who said they had played the arcade version said it slowed down just the same.

I WISH the PS2 Port slowed down like the arcade! But it doesn't.
I would say the lack of slowdown on Maniac Mode is the main difference between the two versions. Otherwise, they're the same.

incognoscente - Cheers, but I'm sure you and BER will streak ahead on Ultra soon!! (Im still concentrating on Maniac).

That's odd, I thought I've updated it... Oh well, I've updated it again just in case, I looked over the whole table and holy crap, I never realized I've left so many "double" scores on the table.

Managed to 1CC Arrange. How much is each spare life worth in this? I scraped through on my last with 1 bomb left, but I cocked up the Stage 3 1UP head so I was a life shorter than I should have been.
