Yea if you have a lot of living costs it's hard to do that, but if you live with your parents over the summer you could get a job and the money for these games plus a J360 is easy.

Since I can't afford a Ferrari, I think it would be fair if I just took one from the factory.

Seriously, give it up. No matter how much your arguments make sense, zealously defending an obviously illegal act is still stupid.

It would be more like "Since i can't afford a Mercedes, I'll copy the concept and build a bootleg one myself"
But it's not like anyone would ever do that, right?
Seems like you CAN download a car

If i sent an email to Cave stating that people on this board are running emulations of games that they created do you think that they would like it.

Unlike "Piracy is alright because I am in a situation where I can't acquire/afford the game otherwise", which totally apt....

I don't care if people pirate, I pirate a few games for now. Just stop justifying it in any shape or form. You're not entitled to anything.

Oh look, a piracy thread. One of the grand stages for dick-waving!

I'm going to eat a fruit that gives me the power to download whatever shmups I like. Then I'll be the Pirate King and I'll kill anyone who comes along with their half-baked arguments with my flashy Cave bullets. And to make sure I remain notorious, I'll actively expand my influence and stir up word of mouth so I'm not forgotten by everyone except jaded 30-year-olds who grew up sinking all their money into me.

Superb!! If that is the sole result of this thread it will have been well worth it :D

And does anyone remember when rancor PM'd NG:Dev about a member of this forum allegedly pirating Fast Striker?
I think on that occasion they very sensibly refused to comment...

If that's your attitude to life then good luck and can I have large fries with that?

Don't mention the name of that fruit though or you'll be in trouble eh?

They already know people emulate their games, and they're not going to care if you isolate one community which is based outside of Japan.

Is there a conflict that could occur in which you need luck to resolve, if you have that specific attitude?
If you find games too expensive and you pirate them for that reason, you're no more entitled to the software than a person who has enough money but still pirates them. Your actions are also no more justified than a person who could buy them but doesn't want to. Go ahead and play some free games, but seriously admit what you're doing.

Well, we're all fucked now. CAVE is going to unleash a storm of lawsuits like you've never seen. Imagine court summons in a spiral pattern hitting everyone on the forum and emulation scene all at once. :P

Hopefully this spurns them on to continue to develop impossible-to-hack PC-based arcade systems for Deathsmiles III et al., now that they know about the existence of this so-called "Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator."

Holy fuck, the shmup genre would be dead by now if it wasn't for emulation, i.e. pirating.
Just stfu content-mafia supporters plz and return to topic.

If the genre managed to survive the years 2001-2004 before CAVE MK1 or even CPSII I think was emulated then it can survive anything its like a cockroach surviving a nuclear holocaust.

Yeah, you're probably right. But 1) there's other developers besides Cave (Touhou popularity withouth the possibility of "illegal downloands" plz?) 2) I prefer a larger community with more people to have events like STGT (which, as I understand, allows only games that are available to a wide range of people, i.e. that are playable with MAME) over a quasi non-existent community with a bunch of people that own PCBs and Japanese 360s.

Original Cave h/w was emulated well before then, and possibly during its original lifespan. Dodonpachi at least was added to MAME in 2000. 2001-2004 was the heyday of CPS2Shock, although I think the genre biggies like Progear and Mars Matrix ended up being some of the later releases (19XX was one of the first available though, rename to ssf2 and run in finalburn )
