Brilliant, so if I buy one now from arcadeforge.de, it'll be the fixed version?

Apologies for the caution, but since I'm not going to be back in the UK until August, I want to make sure! Don't want to have to ask for it to be fixed in a few months time...

Brilliant! My order is down.

As a side note, is there a (reasonably) simply way to use this with RGB Scart, like in this video?

just as the video says. A cheap CGA2VGA scaler, a sync stripper and a Scart adapter cable.

Here's the back-up thread to support (technical wise) that video. :) http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=35423

Thanks! To be honest, contructing my own cable is a little bit beyond my capability, but I may as well see how I get on with the Dreamcast, PC etc.! I'm pretty sure I do actually have a HD Box Pro somewhere under the bed that I've bearly used, so I'll see how well that works with this.

Don't despair....

The makers of the SLG3000 are about to market a solution that will connect to something like the CGA2VGA scaler, taking a SCART input and doing the appropriate "things" to it. You will still need the SLG after the scaler, but at least this other device "SYNC STRIKE" will convert a SCART RGB to RGBs with sync cleaner etc to feed the scaler.

I don't think i've seen this question asked, but how does the SLG3000 actually allow the odd or even scanline's darkeness (black level )to be controlled.

I know how this DIY version works (minus the scanline intensity control)
http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?to ... 8#msg29818

Also, has anyone here in the UK ,had any extra fees added by royal mail ,once it hits blighty ?As i've got £48 put by for the SLG3000 and just wondering if RM willl want a handling charge .

Odd and Even scanlines are available via the DIP switches.

No... you won't get any extra charges to the UK for handling etc.

Hi,

did anyone test this with an old Plasma TV like the Panasonic TH42PX80 with a native resolution of 1024x768?
I had an XRGB-2 in the past and the scanlines looked like crap on my TV

Then they'll look as crappy with the SLG, snice both units do exactly the same. The problem is on your TV's side when upscaling 480p to 768p.

Hi,

I use a MSX computer and XRGB3 at 1080p perfectly.

How it would be the diagram installation with SLG3000?

MSX > SLG3000 > XRGB3 > LCD

That one ?

Thanks

Edit: nvm, looks like SLG3000 cannot handle 15kHz signal directly.

Looks like mine arrived late last week, but my parents never told me. So I have to stop by after work and pick that up. Awesome!

Edit: WOW. I hooked up my 360 and went through some of the retro fighting games and Daioujou. I'm really, really impressed. Now I just have to get an HD Box Pro or something for my PS2.

Kudos, guys!

Hmmm. When I get really close to the screen, I notice that the scanlines are not every other pixel. Rather, there are two lines of "on" pixels, followed by two lines of "off". Why does it work this way, as opposed to one pixel on and one off?

depends on your display (type and resolution) and the resolution you feed. If your source has 480p and you're using a LCD the resolution has to be upscaled to your display's native panel resolution. This doubles the pixel lines.

Ugh. In my defense, I've been overworked this week. ;)

It's a 1080p plasma display.

Try resetting the dip switches. This happens to me with 720p sources sometimes.

When I put both to "off", I get some weird interlace-looking effect. Otherwise I can't seem to see a difference between on-on, on-off, and off-on.

Okay, after a little bit more testing, this is what I've found. Using Mushihimesama Futari on the 360 for comparison, the scanlines appear to match the 3x sharp setting, which has two lines on, two lines off. The 2x scanline setting in the game does one line on, one line off. is two on/two off the intent for the SLG?

And if I turn both dip switches off, I get that flicker. One on and one off, and both on seem to display the exact same scanlines. Further, I will have them set to full intensity, but you can still see some color/light on the "off" pixels. From the couch, this of course is not apparent.

The SLG does seem to be just great, but I wonder if I am supposed to be getting every other line, and if I am supposed to be able to switch between "even" and "odd" scan lines as I have read, or if I am doing something wrong.

Thanks!

Edit: The scanlines from Futari are when I have the 360 in 1080p. The scanlines from the SLG are when I have the 360 in 480p and 4:3.

but mind that the 2x/3x/4x settings are meant to match your output resolution.

The SLG strictly does 2x, it darkens every second line of your OUTPUT signal. So, if your output is set to 480p you get exactly 240 scanlines (one on every other line of pixels). The doubling - as said before - is happeníng on your DISPLAY.

check the quick info

http://www.arcadeforge.de/?page_id=745#info

Both Dips off refer to 800x600.

Dip4 = off; Dip5 = on and reverse Dip4 = on; Dip5=off enable odd and even scanlines on 640x480

And since the display is doubling everything, I'm not going to notice a difference between even and odd, if I understand correctly, right?

I'll see what the 800x600 looks like. Thanks for the help!
