Yeh, actually, anything action and arcade-like is fine by me as long as they don't turn into a RPG company *shudders* But honestly, CAVE without doing shmups would be like KFC stopping to sell fried chicken.

Just thought I'd post this to generate some more irritating arguments about piracy PROBABLY WITH CAPITAL LETTERS :D
How well does it run?

You can't really compare consumers doing emulations on their really expensive computers with Chinese sweat-shops making low end multi-PCBs, can you?

Forgot to mention it here, but I'd figured out the problem with plugins (apparently they were included with the leaked package, but not placed in the folder Demul looked for them in) and was able to successfully run Mushi for a few minutes before going to work. It mostly runs fine, but when there's a lot of action on the screen (boss fights, and some popcorn enemy-heavy sections where lots of gems are generated), the game slows down heavily, to almost half the frame rate. Beside that, as expected there's no sound, and around 3-4 frames of input lag. So, while it's an interesting start, it's not remotely useful for actual playing yet.

I have a quad-core i5-750, so it's very unlikely runs full-speed anywhere.

Interesting. My computer's worse, so we'll see how it goes.

Did you try Ibara? That's what I'm actually interested in at the moment :D

it has nothing to do with specs, its just that the leaked version is old when they just started working on it, and it has really poor emulation of the system, the newer versions are much better

For me, Ibara freezes up when I try to insert a coin. Mushi plays well with hiccups during explosions.

The freezing while inserting coin happens when you hold down the coin button too long. the original pcb does the same thing in my self made supergun when I hold down the coin button.

Just another post confirming that Ibara runs slow as hell due to sloppy emulation, on a 3ghz quad core.

Mjclark, shut up! You might make the Demul devs go all GwangeDash on us and not make a release ever. ;) :P

Jokes aside, if the emulator itself doesn't crash at all and its relatively easy to configure things are looking up for it.

Yep, in the newer vids they confirmed that the emulation got way better.
Also, even though its not solid 60fps, there's something ppl tend to ignore, the input lag, which seems to be unnoticeable (although I didn't play the pcb versions, can anyone confirm this?)

The PCBs do not have a problem with lag.

I meant, how is the input lag compared to the pcb

Why do people even mention that it runs shit on their quad cores? Does demul have multicore support at all? I kinda doubt it.

The plugin settings do have ticks relevant to multi-core support. However, after spending some more time with it (did a quick Mushi Maniac 1CC which wasn't remotely hard with slowdown like this) I can vouch it's imprecise emulation code and not processing overhead: even a single enemy can bring the game from near-exact 60 fps to near-exact 30. Your CPU is hardly relevant here.

I'd also like to revise my earlier assessment on input lag: it feels more like 2-3 frames, of which ~1 is likely caused by my monitor (overdrive off, Vsync forced off). It feels pretty similar to the PS2 port. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be, but it doesn't feel as amazingly responsive as Futari x360.

Btw, Ibara doesn't load here at all. :(

Ibara loads for me but it is even slower than Mushi because of the huge amount of particles flying around all the time. Looking forward to seeing this properly emulated, tho I still hope that Cave bring this older SH3 stuff to XBLA or something.

That much is noticeable, but the problem is I don't have anything better! Or is the actual release around the corner?
